How You Can Bid for Elizabeth Taylor’s Jewelry in December

Elizabeth Taylor
was known for her love of bling. In fact, Hollywood’s glam goddess loved her jewelry collection so much that she even wrote a memoir about it, titled, “Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry.” Taylor’s 33.19-carat diamond ring, given to her by her two-time husband, actor Richard Burton, would make Kim K’s 20.5-carat rock look like costume jewelry.

What I wouldn’t give to even touch the gems, jewels, and crystals owned by the late Elizabeth Taylor.

Wouldn’t you love to own one of her pieces of jewelry?

Well, if you have enough money you might get the chance. This December, Christie’s will be auctioning off over 1,000 pieces of jewelry from Elizabeth Taylor’s collection, often referred to as the Crown Jewels of Hollywood.” The sale will be split in half with nearly 1,000 pieces being sold exclusively online from December 3 to 17 and four days of live auctions for the remaining items.

Much of the sale will focus on jewels, including Art Deco-era pieces, strings of diamonds and pearls, as well as day-to-day adornments. Starting estimates for the top jewels range from $10,000 for a diamond and 18K white gold necklace set with 126 circular-cut diamonds, to as low as $100 for a pair of Chanel ear clips with the designer’s signature “CC” pendants.
such as a pair of Chanel ear clips estimated to sell for just $100. The collection also features gifts originally given to Taylor from the likes of Michael Jackson and her two-time husband Richard Burton. Christie’s auctioneers said the extra sale would “ensure the full breadth of the collection is accessible to collectors worldwide.”

“This is a collection of the highest caliber, from Elizabeth Taylor’s magnificent collection of one-of-a-kind historic jewels, to her haute couture and ready-to-wear fashions, and her exceptional collection of fine and decorative arts,” Marc Porter, chairman and president of Christie’s Americas, said. “To ensure the full breadth of the collection is accessible to collectors worldwide, Christie’s has taken the innovative step of adding this special, online-only component to our live auctions, so that bidders from around the world can participate in this landmark two-week-long event.”

In the meantime, if you don’t have the budget to bid for one of these precious items, you can view some of the remaining pieces which will be displayed at Christie’s Rockefeller Plaza headquarters from December 3 to 12. That way, you can see them for yourself before they get auctioned away to someone else’s jewelry box.
