How to Wear Sequins For Daytime

I have an unhealthy addiction to sequins. It’s shocking that my friends and family have not had an intervention yet. I typically wear sequins only once the sun has set, but, recently, I’ve been wanting to try them for daytime. Here are some tips for taking one of your favorite going out tops and transforming it for a lunch with friends or a study date:

  • Only go for matte sequins. Super shiney ones are strictly for 5 p.m. and after.
  • Pair your sequin piece (top, skirt, shorts) with a contrasting fabric. Go for a fabric that’s more casual, like plaid or chambray.
  • Keep one element simple. You don’t want your clothing competing for attention (it makes your closet a very hostile place). If you’re wearing sequins on top, go for black jeggings. If you’re wearing a sequin skirt, wear a black tank with a chambray button down thrown over
  • Look for casual accessories, like a chunky snood, black ballet falt, and a vintage inspired necklace. Chunky statement earrings paired with sequins is too much for the day.
