Here’s How To Wear Frosted Lips, The Comeback Beauty Trend For 2024

Do you know what I love about Gen Z? We enjoy bringing back trends from the ‘90s and early 2000s, and giving them the renaissance they deserve. These fashion and beauty trends have led and defined the culture of the 2020s, like bringing back scrunchies and claw clips, baggy or relaxed jeans, cargo pants, and platform shoes. Now, there’s a new trend for 2024 that’s back from the archives. Frosted lips are making a comeback.

After years of matte makeup and nude color palettes, sparkles are at the forefront of 2024. Whether it’s sparkly clothes, shoes, or makeup, we want all the glow. Up until now, fashionistas have been used to sparkle or glow everywhere on the face — except for the lips. Gen Z is finally paying homage to the iconic early 2000s and opting for frosted lips, matching the winter season perfectly.

There are many different ways to achieve frosted lips, but the best options I’ve seen on social media include a usual trifecta: lip liner, lipstick, and then top with a gloss. But, to achieve the perfect Paris Hilton frosted lips, it’s all about perfect color tones and formulas. Thankfully, TikTok creators have recommended the best lip products for frosted lips, so we can all emulate the early 2000s in their true glory.

Lip liners are the backbone of a perfect lip look, and make frosted lips stand out even more. There are two recommended shades of lip liners for this trend: a light brown or a mauvy pink. This way, the lips are lightly defined without being too bold. For a pinky lip liner, TikTok creator @caro_beth suggests Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liner in the shade Lure ($17) to get her frosted look. But if you want a brown lip liner shade, @karlacruzbeauty recommends the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Foxy Brown ($25).

Lipstick for frosted lips

The best lipstick for frosted lips would need to be a pinky nude that is subtle but brings color to the lips. The best lipstick I found from TikTok was the L’Oreal Colour Riche Original Satin Lipstick in the shade Organza ($12), beautifully demonstrated by creator @ethanmillerbeauty. This lipstick is the perfect nude and also has an added shimmer to its formula, boosting that frosted look. I also recommend the MAC Frosted Lipstick ($23), which comes in a range of pinky mauves and browns with an added sheer sparkle.

Now, the last and most important component of frosted lips — a shimmery lip gloss. The lip gloss should be packed with sparkle and have a white sheen to emulate the frosted look. Two lip glosses are perfect for this look, IMHO. The first is Anastasia Beverly Hills Diamond Lip Gloss in shade Honey Diamond ($20), an absolute gem I found while scrolling on Sephora. The other lip gloss is the R.E.M. Beauty On Your Collar Plumping Lip Gloss in shade Jelly Sandals ($17), which has the best shimmery pigment that even adds a holographic effect to your look.
