Maybe you’re trying to mimic Kim Possible, or perhaps you’re entering your off-guard model era. Move over, Bella and Gigi! Cargos, specifically green cargo pants, are the ineffable staple for all true fashionistas. The year 2023 has brought many new trends, and a resurgence of many old favorites. Green cargos are one trend that keeps getting better and better — especially for the fall season. I can’t be the only one who’s obsessed with buying them. You may have a few pairs of green cargo pants in your closet that you may not know how to style for fall. Don’t panic, I’ve got you covered!

From the Mean Girls infamous line about army pants and flip-flops to your favorite fashion influencers being spotted in them, I’ve compiled a list of the most badass ways to elevate your cargo pants. Whether preparing for your next Instagram photo-op or strutting downtown in a pointed heel for a date night, cargos must be your go-to. Here are six ways you can style your green cargo pants for fall

1. puffer vests

It’s time to bundle up in your comfiest puffer vest and show off your latest It Girl style. Though puffer coats will always have my heart, a good vest is hard to compare. Old Navy’s Quilted Puffer Vest ($50) comes in the best color selection and is made entirely of recycled materials, and H&M’s Puffer Vest ($27) comes in at a close second!

2. Cropped Cargos & Oversized Sweaters

Who said cropped cargo pants were only for the spring?! They can easily be paired with high socks and an oversized sweater. Amazon is the holy grail for all things fashion, and the YANOOLH Striped Sweater ($30) looks top-notch, too. ASOS’ Knit Oversized Sweater ($53) comes in as a heavy hitter with bolder options for those who aren’t scared of adding some color!

3. Corsets (yes, even in the fall)

The cold is coming, and so are the corsets! Corsets can still be a staple in your wardrobe even as we enter the colder months. Properly layering a top underneath, or pairing it with an oversized jacket, is important. Play with different color corsets, like this Khaki Bandage Hook And Eye Structured Corset from Pretty Little Thing ($35), or if you want to cosplay one of the Bridgerton girls, this V-Neck Solid Corset Lace Up Cami Top from CIDER ($20) has straps for extra support.

4. Metallic Point Toe Heels

You thought the Beyhive took all the metallic clothing, didn’t you?! Well, you’re in luck. Green cargo pants aren’t just reserved for streetwear — they can also be fun to implement into your date night attire with a metallic heel. Public Desire’s Vada Silver Mirror Slingback heels ($45) and DKNY’s Macia Slingback Pumps ($85) bring the heat that’ll give you 10s across the board!

5. Blazers

Boring suits are just not in, babes! Spice up your boss attitude with a blazer. It’s unexpected, and ideal for layering pieces underneath. I think green cargo pants are to be worn everywhere, regardless of the occasion. CIDER’s Solid Collar Button Short Sleeve Blazer ($31) comes in three earth tone shades, and Forever 21’s Oversized Peak Lapel Blazer ($25) gives trendy CEO vibes!

6. Statement bags

An outfit is not a properly-coordinated outfit without a statement bag! Add funky colors to your green cargo look with a tote or a Y2K-inspired shoulder bag, and you’ll be ready for your next Instagram post. Shop Akira’s Obrien Moto Tote Purse ($60) or Gimue’s Punk Style Shoulder Bag ($31) to have the bag game on lock!
