There Are 3 Different UGG Brands, & Yours Probably Aren’t The Authentic Ones

This may be the biggest plot twist of 2023. Did you know there are three different UGG brands?! I know — I was just as speechless as you are right now. UGG, UGG Australia, and UGG Since 1974 are all the known UGG brands in existence. A recent video on TikTok that was posted by the original UGG Since 1974 brand prompted fans of the beloved shoe company to see if they’re wearing real UGG brand products. Unfortunately, I’ve found that I’ve been wearing imposter UGGs this whole time! In the video, UGG Since 1974 states, “If you purchased your UGGs in the early 2000s in the USA or from the USA website, you’ve likely never owned a pair of our UGG Since 1974 boots.” And get this, the brand also says that authentic UGG boots can only be purchased from one store in Australia, and that they don’t have any stores outside of the country.

Let’s just say you’ve been bamboozled by the imposter UGGs that you begged our parents for since your middle school days! UGG-wearers around the world convened into TikTok’s comments section, expressing their confusion in hilarious ways. One commenter said, “This is groundbreaking information. The popular girls were wearing KNOCKOFFS.” Another went on to say, “Always thought the knockoff to UGG was bear paws…turns out its UGGs 😭😭😭.” For one commenter, the revelation was just too much to handle, saying, “I just looked at my UGG slipper and yelled ‘who are you?’”

Want to know if your favorite pair of UGG boots are authentic?! Watch this TikTok creator break down the logo differences to see if you lucked out and got the real deal or not. The original UGGs will have “Australian Made” written underneath the logo on the back of the boots. Boots made here in the U.S. won’t. UGG Australia, a third brand that was established in 1981, sells their version of the boots with a two-tone coloring on the heel. They also feature an entirely different logo, which mimics the look of a family crest. Interestingly enough, the prices for boots on the UGG Since 1974 website are cheaper than the ones made in the U.S. and UGG Australia.

Not to mention, the original Australian brand has far more patterns, colors, and textures than the U.S. brand. Their denim collection of boots is such a fashion statement, which also includes mini UGGs for babies. In addition to many styles, their collection also features various denim washes to choose from, just like your favorite pair of jeans. Are you obsessed with the platform shoe trend?! UGG Since 1974 has got them, too, and each pair is made with “sustainable and ethically sourced materials and packaging,” according to their website.

Still looking for the perfect holiday gift? The originators have got you covered! Monogrammed UGG boots are all the rage down under. From fluffy slides to classic mid-size boots, any of them can be embossed with your initials. I couldn’t be more shocked, confused, and obsessed with this new information! I never would’ve thought to add these authentic staple boots to my shopping list, but now they’re at the top.
