Her Campus’s 20 Favorite Winter Coats

Day by day, we’re creeping closer and closer to snow, hot chocolate, fireplaces, and winter sports. Unfortunately, that light fall jacket you purchased a few months ago isn’t going to keep you warm during those chilly winter days. But don’t worry, we’ll make winter exciting this year! HC has got your back with the 20 best winter coats that will be sure to keep you warm and toasty, not to mention stylish.

Beautiful Bomber The military trend lives on! With its faux fur lining and leather strap details, this bomber-style jacket with a pair of gorgeous aviators will make you the flyest girl on campus. Not to mention, it will protect you from the wintry cold.

Free People, $298

Simple and Sweet– Cold weather doesn’t mean you have to wear a frumpy jacket! This Urban Outfitters jacket is fashionable and trendy with its buttons and details in the back. Wear it with a skirt, a beautiful pair of boots, and a funky pair of tights and you will be fashionably ready for class.

Urban Outfitters, $79

Faux Fur Frenzy– We see Rachel Zoe rocking fur and designers like Derek Lam and Chris Benz featuring bona fide fur in their recent collections. Although fur is in, there’s no pressure to wear the real deal. This faux fur jacket is affordable and will keep you warm during those tough winter days.

Preppy Plaid For the college prepsters out there, this Abercrombie plaid jacket with fur trimming has a laidback look. It will work perfectly with a pair of dark wash jeans and an off-white long sleeved shirt.

Abercrombie, $200

Snow Ready– The North Face is a winter staple for many college girls. However, I wanted to find a ski jacket that wasn’t going to follow that over-worn style. The splatter white and black pattern makes this jacket unique compared to a regular old North Face.

North Face, $229

Leather and Studs Nothing is better than leather and a few studs. You have the option of dressing it down with a pair of jeans and motorcycle boots, or dressing it up with a pair of patent leather heels and a formal dress.

Via Spiga, $125.25

The Winter Trench Ladies, I have good news! The trench isn’t just designated for the fall season. This Elie Tahari trench will keep you as warm as a puffer jacket while still maintaining the classic trench look.

Elie Tahari, $446.25

Perfect Pea Coat Finding the perfect, simple-but-edgy pea coat can be tricky. Help is on the way! Although this Andrew Marc jacket may be a little pricey, I couldn’t be more obsessed with the buttons, sleeve detail, and light grey color that will look good with a hat, scarf, and a pair of mittens.

Andrew Marc, $371.25

Comfy Capella Coat Not a fan of the winter? Are you sick and tired of the same old boring coat? This J.Crew jacket makes entering winter a little bit more exciting with a one-button cape-like silhouette, large pockets, and a beautiful camel color that will go with every outfit.

Add A Little Color Winter days don’t have to be dreary and cold. Add a little bit of color to your wardrobe, like this purple jacket from Delia’s. If you’re not a fan of purple, this coat also comes in green, light blue, navy, and crème.

Delia’s, $69.50

Cozy With Khaki This short bomber jacket may not seem like a layer that will keep you warm during the chilly winter days. On the contrary! This jacket is perfect for college girls who don’t want a long heavy puffer jacket. It’s short and sweet!

Black Poppy, $34.50

2 in 1 Coat This high fashion-looking ASOS jacket has to be one of my favorites on the list.  I love this interesting invention of the 2 in 1 coat: a cropped coat and a longer cape-like coat.

Classic Puffer The puffer jacket is one of this year’s trickiest trends to wear. To make this coat more high fashion, belt it! This coat that looks like it’s stuffed with large marshmallows will keep you warm and protect you from the harsh winter conditions.
