Her Campus’s 20 Favorite Rompers

As the weather gets warmer and the hemlines get shorter, you’re probably tempted to stock your closet with new summer dresses. But if you want to spice up your summer wardrobe – and get tons of compliments while doing it – look no further than the romper. You may have a few qualms about taking the romper plunge, like, “Aren’t rompers what toddlers wear? How will I use the restroom?” But have no fear – rompers are the ‘it’ item of the season. And think about it: when wearing a romper, you don’t have to worry about the wind flipping up your skirt! Now that’s what I call smart fashion. Here are Her Campus’s 20 favorite rompers:

Under $30

All Zippered Up

I love this sleek jade number. Put on some wedges and wear it out to a dinner date!

Forever 21, $17.80

Romper Blues

Chambray fabric is very fashionable right now, but also versatile! This romper would look great with almost anything. Try it with a cardigan and ballet flats.

Hollister, $19.75

Back to the Basics

This simple black romper is a great staple to add to your wardrobe. I’d throw it on with a straw fedora and flat sandals to do errands.

Mossimo, $24.99 (available at Target)

Beaded Babe

A fun beaded neckline spruces up this basic romper. Put on your Ray-Ban sunglasses and wear it to an outdoor concert, or out shopping with friends.

Charlotte Russe, $26.50

A great way to cover up your swimsuit – throw this nautical romper on when you leave the beach to grab lunch.

Urban Outfitters, $34

Electric Blue

This bright blue romper is perfect for going out to dinner with your girlfriends. To avoid too much exposure, try it with a cute bandeau bra top underneath.

Nasty Gal, $48

This cotton romper looks so comfortable, and it’s a nice staple that you can wear with anything.

J.Crew, $49.50

Flirty Menswear

This super hip romper (that comes with the belt!) is sure to turn heads. On colder days, throw a pair of grey or black tights underneath.

Lace Queen

I love the surprise lace back on this romper! Dress it up with sky-high pumps for a night on the town.

Silence & Noise, $59 (available at Urban Outfitters)

Sweetie Pie

This cute khaki romper is great for a coffee date. Accessorize with a pop of color, like a piece of bright jewelry.

This chic zippered romper makes for an effortlessly cool look. The blue color looks great with gold accessories, but the look can be dressed up or down. This romper is one of my favorites!

BB Dakota, $65

This sleek long-sleeved romper is the epitome of cool. Take it to the next level with thick-framed black glasses and bright red lips, if you dare!

Flaunt your feminine side in this super girly romper. Wear it out to Sunday brunch (or better yet, a garden party) with a strand of pearls.

ModCloth, $99.99

Splurge

Rebel Rouser

This cool tribal romper is the perfect combination of girly and tough. I’d play up the “tough” by wearing it with a black leather motorcycle jacket.

It’s hard not to fall in love with this beautiful open-shoulder romper. Pair with a statement necklace and great heels, and wear to a fashion show or gallery opening. You’ll fit right in with the stylish crowd!

You’ll be the center of attention in this neon yellow number (that could pass as a dress!). Great with metallic accessories for a formal event.

Halston Heritage, $295

Romper Goddess

The list ends with this stunning belted romper. Channel the ‘70s by pairing it with sky-high platform wedges, and you’ve got a daytime look that’s sure to leave everyone speechless.

Allie is a junior at Princeton University where she is majoring in English. A native of San Francisco, Allie loves living on the East Coast (but will probably never learn how to walk in the snow without slipping – or, more accurately, face planting). On campus, Allie is an editor for The Daily Princetonian, Public Relations Chair of her sorority, and a member of Princeton’s belly dance troupe. In her free time, Allie can usually be found scouting out local coffee shops, wondering if it's possible to be a foodie who doesn't cook, and pretending to get lost in cities (though she always carries directions, and is never, in fact, lost). Allie plans to pursue a career in magazine journalism and spent the summer as an intern for Surface Magazine in New York.
