Retro Looks are Just a Click Away!

The cool thing about this emerging trend is that it’s so attainable. While thrift stores are an awesome way to find some retro pieces, we can get some chic sixties-inspired looks online. OneStopPlus.com, the first plus-sized web mall, offers skirt suits and sheath dresses that give a modern twist to this retro trend. Dots.com, an affordable fashion retailer, has accessories that are so Pan Am! The online boutique eDressme.com have fun silhouettes that totally bring back the swinging sixties. Coastal.com is a leading vision-care website that offers some fabulous sunglasses to complete your ensemble. With all of these options, how could you not want to try this trend?

Styling Rules

Okay fashionistas, now that we know where to buy our Pan Am inspired pieces, the next step is making this trend college appropriate. Follow these simple style guidelines and you’ll be the coolest trendsetter on campus!

  • Break up the suit: While suits are perfect for internships and jobs, they don’t usually scream collegiette™.  To look campus appropriate, try wearing the suit’s jacket with skinny jeans or even a bodycon skirt. To make the suit’s skirt fashion forward, pair the skirt with a simple white tee!
  • Never underestimate the power of statement jewelry: I fully believe that jewelry has the power to add the “wow” factor to any outfit.  Adding a piece of statement jewelry– you only need one incredible piece- to a classic sixties silhouette will be super chic!
  • Let your hair down: An easy way to give this trend a collegiette™ spin is to simply let your hair down! While the leading ladies of Pan Am have perfect hair, a messy ponytail or even beachy waves will keep this look cool and current.
  •  Ditch the heels: Unless you’re rocking this look at a job or internship, wearing heels with this trend may look like you’re wearing your Halloween costume early. Try wearing a structured boot with this trend: comfortable, chic, and so collegiette™!

Loving this trend? Don’t forget to watch Pan Am at 10PM EST on ABC for more outfit ideas!
