Five Dream-Worthy Shoes and Their Collegiette-Approved Alternatives

Like every other fashionista, it’s my dream to have a shoe closet that would make Carrie Bradshaw jealous. What could be better than a massive collection of Blahniks, Louboutins, and Atwoods? Nothing. If you’re anything like me, you spend hours shamelessly looking at high-end shoes online.  With a collegiette’s™ budget, a closet filled with expensive shoes is unlikely; however, we can score some shoes like the ones we stalk online for a fraction of the price. Ready to swoon over some fabulous kicks? Her Campus presents five dream-worthy shoes and their collegiette™ alternatives.

The Dream: Rag & Bone Moto Boot in Brown ($595.00)

I’m mildly obsessed with all things Rag & Bone: the brand’s casual chic aesthetic is undeniably addicting. I love these boots because they’re so versatile, which makes them a great everyday shoe. The short height plus the Italian leather equals the perfect mix of upscale luxe and laid-back chic.

Collegiette™ Alternative: Steve Madden Lewiz Boot in Brown ($69.95)

These shoes are an amazing alternative to the Rag & Bone boots: the two shoes are similar in height, structure, and heel. The larger buckles on the Steve Madden boots exude an equestrian vibe, which is awesome for the fall and winter!

The Dream: Christian Louboutin Suede Thick-Heel Bootie ($995.00)

Booties are the ultimate shoe to wear during the winter season: they’re super chic and you can wear them with tights. These Louboutin booties are so sophisticated and glamorous! The red or black would look absolutely stunning with a pair of tights, a LBD, and a fabulous wrap coat.

Collegiette™ Alternative: Sam Edelman “Wilma” Bootie in Black Suede ($129.95)

These booties are a fabulous alternative. They may lack the iconic red sole, but these have a comfortable wedge! Since we’re constantly on-the-go, comfortable, and chic, shoes are a must!

The Dream: Christian Louboutin Sequined Platform Pump ($1,695.00)

I’m a sucker for sequins because they equal instant-glamour. These shoes would look stunning with a LBD or even some jeans and a fun top. The multicolored sequins give this shoe the perfect amount of edge. Also, can anyone resist the iconic red sole? I think not!

Collegiette™ Alternative:  Steve Madden Bitter Heel in Gold ($99.95)

These sequined platforms are an awesome alternative! The best part about these shoes is that they are on sale right now for $41.98. Um, excuse me? That’s an amazing steal!

The Dream: Alexander McQueen Skull-Embellished Velvet Loafers ($595.00)

Ever since I saw the slipper trend on “Who What Wear,” I’ve been on a quest to find some stellar slipper-inspired shoes. McQueen’s take on this trend is my personal favorite: the skull embellishment gives this shoe a rocker vibe, which I love. Slipper-inspired shoes could potentially look like something your grandpa owns, so an awesome embellishment or a funky color is the perfect way to give this trend a youthful twist.

Collegiette™ Alternative: Asos Leo Bordeaux Shoes ($62.90)

What a steal! Since these shoes don’t have any embellishments, they can easily work with so many outfits! Also, I’m obsessed with this color: it’s so regal!

The Dream: Brian Atwood Power Studs Suede Platform Pumps ($1,900.00)

In my opinion, Brian Atwood is the coolest shoe designer of our generation: he knows how to make shoes that are feminine, edgy, and sexy. I love how the classic silhouette contrasts with the silver spikes. If styled correctly, these shoes could be fierce during the day and night.

Collegiette™ Alternative: Sam Edelman “Lorissa” Pumps ($199.95)

Ever since the summer, I’ve had an unhealthy obsession with these shoes.  The conical studs would be the perfect “wow” factor to any outfit, let alone this shoe. They’re currently on sale at Nordstrom- 33% off- so hurry up and snag a pair for yourself!
