We all have that pair of jeans that we just CAN’T throw away. Whether they’re the pair you swore you’d be able to fit back into eventually (that was five years ago—it’s time to move on) or that pair you wore during the FutureSex/LoveShow concert when there was one magical moment where you were in the front row and you ALMOST touched Justin Timberlake’s hand and obviously you can’t throw away that memory (which also happened five years ago—seriously, girl, time to move on). It’s time to face the facts—those jeans are well past their glory days (just call them “sartorial has-beens”), and they’ve been sitting unworn in the back of your closet for too long. So why not turn them into something you can actually use? Here are five HC-approved ideas for how to upcycle those old jeans (click each picture for a tutorial!). So go ahead, grab those scissors and get crafty—we’re sure Justin will understand.
Make a denim coaster. An easy way to add some DIY decorations to your dorm or apartment!
Make a denim wristlet, or add a longer strap to make a cute purse.
Make a reusable coffee sleeve. You’ll be the most eco-friendly (and original) girl in the Starbucks line!
Make a denim bulletin board. Putting all those cute couple pictures of you and your boyfriend on your real wall is so much better than just having them on your Facebook wall.
Pull a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Not so handy with thread or glue guns? Have you and your friends decorate your jeans with your favorite summer moments a la Carmen, Bridget, Lena, and Tibby for a cute way to look back on great memories!
