Earth Lovers: Tricks of the Trade

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Today my shower took less than three minutes (!!!!!). Wait. Whaaaaaat?!?

Yes, it happened. I set the timer on my phone for three minutes right before I got into the shower this morning. Right after I finished taking my shower, I turned off the water, and then the timer went off. Seems crazy, right? Being able to take a full shower in under three minutes? Well, as I mentioned before, it does take some practice and creativity and quite a bit of concentration. Nonetheless, it is possible. There are lots of ways to shorten shower time and help conserve resources, you just need to keep an open mind for tips and tricks wherever you go.

Earlier this week, when I was brainstorming ways to try and shorten my shower time, my friend, Razia (who’s super excited that I’m one of the Three Minute Shower Challenge Bloggers), sent me a picture message of a snippet in Cosmopolitan of their advice for taking four-minute showers if you’re in a time crunch. They suggested that you put a dollop of shampoo on your crown and stand directly underneath the shower faucet so that the suds will form and travel downward faster—and you’ll be able to wash the rest of your body at the same time.

Also earlier this week, I received my Earth Lover Gift Basket from The Body Shop, that included a plethora of deliciously-scented goodies ranging from all of their Earth Lover’s Body Washes to a cute, little travel brush (I’m literally obsessed with all of it). Included in the basket was a set of shampoo and conditioner, and as I was admiring my new Earth Lover treats, I came across their “directions” on the bottle—which suggested to lather the shampoo in your hands with water before rubbing it in your hair “for best results.”

I know, I’m such a creative genius. And, the fact that my shower lasted for such a short amount of time allowed me more time for the rest of my day (time much needed to do all of my laundry from the past month).

Therefore, for those of you who are trying out the Three Minute Shower Challenge (which should be all of you…Save the planet!)—be open to tips and tricks on saving the environment wherever you go! You never know when you’ll hear of something that could help you make greener decisions every day.

xoxo
