Hi there! I’m Laura, an Environmental Engineering Science major at UC Berkeley, and this is my blog adventure taking the Earth Lovers Three-Minute Shower Challenge, sponsored by The Body Shop & HerCampus.com! What is this, you ask? Well, through these blog posts, I want to show you how making the simple change of taking a 3-minute shower rather than a 7-, 10-, or 15-minute shower, you can not only reduce your impact on the environment but save time and money!
Yes, 3 minutes is really short. But, I think I’ve already found a good trick to keep myself to my time limit: music! After sorting my music library by time, I was able to find the songs that are under 3:00. For my first day today, I used the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe”, clocking in at 2:53. Not only does the song give me a good gauge for how long I’ve been in the shower (who doesn’t know that song?), but it also gives me the opportunity to set goals throughout this endeavor. My current goal: get down to Les Paul & Mary Ford’s “How High the Moon” (2:07).
Want to do the Three-Minute Shower Challenge, too? Great! I’ll be posting blog entries throughout this challenge, but I want to hear from YOU! Let me know of any tips or tricks you discover along the way! Let’s work our way down to under a 3-minute shower for the most efficient use of our time, money, and water resources!
