Earth Lovers: Count Down to Earth Day!

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Well, hopefully by now you know what tomorrow is: EARTH DAY!! I’m beyond excited, and I feel like the rest of Berkeley is, too. The weather was actually really nice today and people are starting to spend more time outside. My professors are lightening up on problem sets and the weekend seems to be looking up!

I thought I’d give you guys a few ideas of fun stuff to do tomorrow in honor of Earth Day:

  1. Have a picnic outside. I’m a big fan of picnics, mostly because I like to hang out outside and I like to make and eat picnic-y food, like sandwiches and big watermelon slices!
  2. Play frisbee! My roommate, Jody, and some other Cal Band friends of mine play on an IM ultimate frisbee team, and they have a ton of fun! Also, running around burns a lot of calories (especially since I spent yesterday being a couch potato).
  3. Get your hands dirty. Earth Day is a great day to get a group of friends together and volunteer, be it with children, for the environment, or for your school. At Cal, we have Berkeley Project, which organizes students together to volunteer. I’m sure your school has something similar.
  4. Reduce/reuse/recycle all day long! Take Earth Day as a challenge to be as waste-less as possible. In my AP Environmental Science class in high school, we did an assignment where we carried around a trash bag with all the waste we’d accumulated over the week. Do the same but just for the day. You’ll be surprised how much waste is generated on a day-to-day basis.
  5. Continue the Earth Lovers 3-Minute Shower Challenge! (Duh.)

Today’s song: “The Jumpin’ Jive” – Cab Calloway (2:49)
What I did with my extra time today: took a nap (sooo needed)
