Does Taylor Swift’s Dress for the Billboard Music Awards Prove the Old Taylor Is Finally Coming Back?

Buckle up, y’all, because Taylor Swift is slaying the fashion game right now and inspiring Twitter into some major fan theories. She made a surprise appearance at the Billboard Music Awards this year, even though it was unclear of whether or not she’d actually show up to the event (despite being nominated for several categories, lol). Dressed to the nines in her pink gown, Taylor made an entrance quite different than the rebellious look she’s been going for ever since releasing “Reputation“. People were quick to note how this look is much more reminiscent of her earlier days. Remember “Speak Now” and “Fearless”? Remember when all of your middle school friends were singing T-Swift songs all day, every day? Maybe this is a glimpse of the old Taylor sneaking through.

In a mauvey-pink gown, Taylor made her dress one-of-a-kind with its embellishments and cut. There were feather and beads, and the high slit up her leg revealed some metallic heels that I would probably never be able to walk in. This is totally opposite of the all-black outfits Taylor has been rockin’ for her current tour, but hey, I’m not complaining.

Take special notice of the low bun with loose waves framing her face. Yes, THOSE signature curls are finally back, and it looks like the sleek bang-clad lob is gone (at least for now). You already know she’s been with this look for years now.

Fans were absolutely stoked on her appearance at the awards show, tweeting pictures of her dress and expressing how excited they are by a potential return to her old ways, both in terms of fashion and music sound. Swifties are truly the most loyal in the game, and I wouldn’t expect anything less than the utmost support for her.
