College Students Made Unbelievably Chic Accessories from McDonald’s Packaging

McDonald’s partnered with students from the Miami International University of Art and Design to create a collection of totally trendy accessories using McDonald’s packaging, including cups, take out bags and boxes, and even straws. The fast food chain is marketing its new packaging designs, which are definitely a step up. Check out the below comparisons to see what we mean.

McDonald’s Packaging Today

In an article by Business Insider, McDonald’s spokesperson Becca Hary explains the new branding. “The new look is simple, fresh and consistent with our vision to be a modern and progressive burger company,” she says. McDonald’s will ship its revamped packaging to 15,000 U.S. restaurants this month and finish the rollout to other countries by the end of 2016.

Two students, Pablo Machado and Ricardo Hardouin, were chosen to use McDonald’s supplies in designing a cool, fashion-forward collection, Seventeen reports. The most impressive part of the challenge was that they had to complete their designs in 48 hours. That’s shorter than some Project Runway challenges, so major props to these guys. Pablo and Ricardo came up with every accessory imaginable, from hats to straw-spiked pumps.

You’ve got to admit, McDonald’s has changed the way we look at their takeout bags. We’re glad the brand is switching up and experimenting with its products. Now, where can we get our hands on that Big Mac purse?
