Switching Up Your Bedroom’s Color Scheme Might Help Boost Your Mood – & Even Improve Your Sex Life

The list of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact, though not yet exhaustive, is incredibly extensive, encompassing a range of outcomes and effects including but not limited to a negative impact on people’s sex lives.

According to the London-based apartment rental brand Essential Living, nearly half of young women reported that they feel as though their body confidence has dwindled amidst the pandemic, which has led to a negative impact on their sex lives. While issues in the bedroom have long predated COVID-19, and we’re no longer necessarily in the early, redecorating and renovation-crazed era of the pandemic, a recent study has uncovered different color combinations that could possibly remedy these issues.

Essential Living teamed up with color expert Momtaz Begum-Hossain and relationship expert Jen Kaarlo to narrow down which colors can help with passion in the bedroom, as a part of Essential Living’s larger study on meanings behind different bedroom styles and how colors influence mood and connections.

Jen Kaarlo, the study’s relationship expert, found that creating a “luxury boudoir” in the bedroom, with a combination of white, purple, gold and teal, are ideal for getting that spark back. The aesthetic and appeal of a luxury boudoir is a space that “has a more sensual feel where color, texture and patterns coordinate to create a bedroom that is bold and beautiful” and is great for creative couples wanting a space that embodies their unique qualities and personalities, according to Begum-Hossain.

Certain colors can evoke certain emotions, and can affect how we feel and behave. For instance, royal blue, sky blue and mustard are confidence-boosting colors, making them especially helpful in the bedroom. Colors like magenta, canary and terracotta are great for counteracting negativity while white, duck-egg blue and soft pink are ideal for offsetting laziness and impatience.

Depending on preference, you can incorporate each of these colors with different décor items and design elements, from new bedspreads and pillows to new wallpaper or paint – and their effects can be equally impactful in other parts of your home, too. You’ll not only revamp your space, but also be able to mindfully set the balance, tone and energy you believe will serve you, and your significant other.

These colors and different color combos are meant to help welcome more romance and sensuality into relationships, while also offsetting negative emotions and behaviors, so turning things around may be as easy as a bedroom refresh!
