Summer is here! Alas, perfect for ditching pretentious curls and embracing some wilder waves. This trend is not new (but then again what hasn’t been recycled?). Celebrities such as Mary-Kate Olsen and Mila Kunis have been flaunting the look and rebellious waves were even spotted on the runway at a Givenchy 2012 show. So how do you make these beachy waves emerge? For those who have some natural wave already, all you have to do is ditch the blow dryer and let the waves flow. For my straighter-hair ladies, here are some tips for creating that beachy look:

The Easy Method: Braid your hair before bed. In the morning unravel the braids for a hassle-free beach look!

The Less Easy Method: For girls willing to spend more time on their locks, blowout your hair. Use a texturizing or volumizing spray (such as d:fi’s Beach Bum Textuizing Spray) in hair to ensure that your waves will hold through out the day. Divide hair into sections and use a wide-barrel curling iron to create large curls in each section. Spray again….just for good measure!
