Spring 2013 Trends: Pastel Colors

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

I am over dreary winter weather. I’m sick of wearing black and gray; the colorful duds in my closet are mocking me, dying to be let out of the crowded mess and be worn.

As much as I say every winter that I refuse to get stuck in a boring winter fashion rut of blah colors, I always do. Maybe I can incorporate a little neon here and there, but I just want pastels! Confession: I love pastels. I really, really love pastels. But even the boldest fashion risk takers aren’t seen in pastel colors any day there is even the slightest chance of snow.

Well the temperature is rising (every so slowly, but it is!) and now I can start to dream about all the new colorful clothing I want to stuff my closets and bureau with.

Like many collegiettes, a trip to Target to buy shampoo often turns into a trip to Target to buy soap, a romcom DVD, gum, a greeting card for my sister’s upcoming birthday, a new dress, shoes, and snacks. You all know what I’m talking about.

Well I have the same problem whenever I start browsing Target.com. All of the sudden my virtual shopping cart is overflowing, and well, it’s a little harder to edit it down when you can’t physically remove things. So if you’re anything like me, you end up buying a lot.

My most recent shopping trip to Target.com was Spring-hopeful, as I was thinking pastels.

First I spotted this labworks Long-Sleeve V-Back Tunic Top in a pretty yellow. This top, which retails for $29.99, screams comfort. I can already imagine myself wearing leggings and short Uggs with this top, waiting for it to get 10 degrees warmer so I can shed one of warm pieces.

My next love was this $29.99 Prabal Gurung for Target ® Colorblock Long-Sleeve Sweater in Atlantis Green. I love that I could pull this over any tank and I think the fun blue on the edges would work really well with lighter colored (read: warm weather) jeans. And I obviously am a lover of all designer’s Target collections and have been waiting to get my hands on some pieces from the Prabal Gurung collection. Check!

A perfect tank to go under that sweater would be the Prabal Gurung for Target ® Pebble Racerback Tank Top in Atlantis Green. This is the sort of top you can dress down with a cardigan during the day and dress up with fun accessories and heels for a night out with the girls. And this designer top won’t break bank at only $19.99.

Obviously I am going through a love affair with green pastels, as I also flipped for this MERONA Green Crossbody. I mean, how well would this go with my Prabal Gurung for Target ® sweater?! And seriously, how often do you find a crossbody this chic for $26.99? With this bag I can bring the pastel trend into the evening, as I can’t go out without a hands free bag like this one anymore (I need all the hands I can get for drink balancing and texting!).

Finally with all my pastel colored clothes and new bag, I found myself craving new shoes and fell in love with the Women’s Merona Manda Studded Ballet Flat in Pale Peach. The shoes, which cost $19.99, will go so well with my new sweater!

It’s Time for Springtime. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your look. Target makes it affordable and easy to play around with the trends.
