It seems like just yesterday that I was reporting on Cara Delevingneâs new platinum pixie cut… because it practically was! Just two short weeks ago, the Life In a Year actress snapped a selfie debuting an adorable new âdo for her role in the upcoming film. On Monday night at the Met Gala, Delevingne debuted a new, new look, with a completely shaven head! Now, donât worry, the quick and drastic hair changes are all for her upcoming movie role.
Cara, however, is taking the look confidently in her stride. During the gala, Delevingne turned her recently bare canvas into a work of art, painting her head silver and adding sequins that formed a star-like pattern to elevate the out-of-this-world aesthetic of her entire look.
That evening, however, Delevingne was less focused on her own fashion moment, and was instead driven to use it as an opportunity to empower others. She captioned one of her many Instagram posts about the event with an inspirational message about self-love: âBeauty shouldn’t be so easily defined. It is limitless.” In the second image, she continued: “It’s exhausting to be told what beauty should look like. I am tired of society defining beauty for us. Strip away the clothes, Wipe Off the make up, cut off the hair. Remove all the material possessions. Who are we? How are we defining beauty? What do we see as beautiful?â
Delevingne encourages us to redefine what we think âbeautyâ is, and to accept that it extends to everyone, even those who do not fit into our societyâs narrow standards. While others might be afraid to show off a bald head, Delevingne is taking it in stride, showing us that sheâs confident going out in public, and continuing her everyday life.
Caraâs followers are loving the positive message that she is putting out. One commenter even wrote, âIâve always wanted to shave my hair but my friends tell me that it’s too weird and it’s not right. Having you shave your hair is so encouraging.â
It’s amazing to see Delevingne use her power and celebrity status to share a positive message with her followers. If sheâs able to rock a bald head with an IDGAF attitude, you can too! While you donât need to go out and immediately shave your head (but you can if you want to!), hopefully her words encourage you to embrace and accept your insecurities, and realize that your beauty shouldnât be something that other people define.
