In Her Campus’ series Closet Check, we’re getting a look inside the closet of a college student and learning all about how they put together their favorite outfits. In this piece, we talk to Eileen Flaherty, a senior at Fairfield University, who color codes her closet to make choosing outfits a breeze.

The Closet Check
I love my closet because it is very spacious. I have a lot of room to hang sweaters, dresses, skirts, and more. I also have a set of drawers from IKEA (that have served me so well for so long) where I keep my PJs, workout clothes, jeans, and sweatshirts. On my door, you’ll notice I have a lot of bags. I honestly don’t switch out my bags that much, especially in the summer, but I have plenty of options! My closet is very long and has a lot of storage space. I wish it had shelves, though.
Creating The Fits
As seen in my pictures, my clothes that are hanging up are color-coded as best as they can be. This helps me a lot, and makes it easier to pair outfits. For example, the company I intern for uses yellow and orange as their brand colors. If I am ever on an important meeting with them or a virtual happy hour, I have a section in my closet that is color-coded for it! Also, I look at the weather every morning, too. I’m sure everybody does this, but the weather has been especially up and down lately, so I never really know what to wear!
What I’d Wear To: A Summer Hometown Party
Now that I’m older and of legal age, me and my friends tend to go out more in the city or out to restaurants and bars. However, if I were going to a hometown party (which would probably be more of a grad party, celebratory event, or BBQ), I would keep it simple and classy with a dress! I wear dresses just about every day in the summertime, so I picked out this dress from Marshalls as an example. I wore it with a French Kande necklace to give it a different element. I would wear a nice sandal with this outfit.
What I’d Wear On: An Outdoor walk
It has been pretty chilly and not that sunny in Massachusetts so far. But, that does not stop my Hot Girl Walks. I love going for a nice walk every day, and lately, I’ve been wearing outfits like this. They are comfortable, but still cute. My zip-up sweatshirt is from Sundance and my shorts are from Amazon.
What I’d Wear On: A Date Night
I love this skirt because it can be so easily dressed up or down. This outfit would also be perfect with a nice cardigan, or I’d swap out the top for a sweater — a simple, yet classy, date night look. The skirt is from H&M and the top is from Gilli. I got my headband in Italy, so I can’t remember where it’s from! My necklace is from French Kande. For shoes, I would either wear a nice sandal, wedge, or even sneakers if you want to dress it down!
What I’d Wear To: An Internship Interview
This outfit is sponsored by Marshalls. (I’m kidding, but I wish it was!) My green blazer vest is from House of Harlow, but I got it at Marshall’s for like $15. My jumpsuit is from Calvin Klein, but I purchased it at Marshalls. My shoes are Tommy Hilfiger. I won’t even mention where I bought them because you could probably guess! I thought this would be a good outfit for an internship interview because it feels put-together but it is also stylish. The green adds a nice pop of color, too, which is something that is always nice!
