Calling All Curvy Collegiettes™: Top 5 Jeans for Plus-Sized Women

Jeans are a wardrobe staple for almost all of us. Unfortunately, they are also one of the most torturous items to shop for.  Every collegiette™ has unique hips, waist, and thighs, but it seems like denim only comes in constricting, boxy and uncomfortable fits, especially if you are a plus-sized woman. To flaunt your best features, you want the pair of baby blues that will hug in all the right places without adding extra bulk or uncomplimentary bunching. Here’s a list of the best jeans to fit a plus-sized frame.

Old Navy “Plus Dark-Rinse Skinny” Jeans (size 16-30) $32.50

The ”Plus Dark-Rinse Skinny” jeans are fantastic because of their slim silhouette. You can wear them with heels when you’re out with the girls or on a date, and they’ll make your legs look fabulous. Plus: no sagging in the butt! The great thing about Old Navy is that they do their best to cater to plus-size women. They even have a whole section on their website dedicated to the category, and if they don’t fit just the way you like, you can mail them back for free. They carry four styles in the “Plus” section: skinny, boot cut, flare, and wide-leg jeans.

Gap “Curvy” Jeans (up to size 20) $69.50

These jeans are a personal favorite. They have a solid fit and last a very long time. Gap is known worldwide for its denim, so it makes sense that they would be built to last. They come in a “long” size for taller women or an “ankle” size for the petite crowd. They can go from day to night in a snap. Just add a sparkly top and a simple clutch, and you’re ready to go out for happy hour drinks.

Levis Defined Waist Boot Cut 580 Jeans Plus (size 16-24) $48.00

These jeans have a snug fit in the waist, so if you’re small in that area these jeans are perfect because they don’t gap in the back. They hug the waist and hips to give you the most flattering look possible. These jeans are great for the weekend with flats and a tunic. Levis are such a classic trademark so it’s great to see that they have a whole plus-sized selection online with styles ranging from jeggings to flare jeans.

LOFT “Petite Julie Saturated Blue Wash Curvy Trouser Jeans” (up to size 16) $69.50

These jeans are a great play on the 70s trend that’s been popping up on runways this year. It’s a wider leg style that might seem hard to pull off for plus-sized women, but this style is very flattering. Pair it with platform wedges and a floppy hat to complete the trend.

Lane Bryant “Rolled Denim Capri” (Sizes 14-28) $54.95

The Lane Bryant brand has always been known for its fashion-forward and affordable clothing. It’s a great go-to for everything from dresses to intimates, and the denim selection is diverse. This pair is great for the summertime (if it ever comes, that is) because of its light wash and slightly loose fit akin to a boyfriend jean. The distressed denim gives it a casual vibe that’s perfect for lounging or as a cover-up at the beach.
