Confession time, collegiettes: I am the victim of a total beauty rut.

My makeup routine has been pretty much the same for years: mascara, brown eye shadow, brown eyeliner… blah. And since the approaching New England winter means that the daylight hours are getting shorter up here in Boston, I’m in serious need of some bright color in my life.

That’s why I was beyond excited to get some items from The New Collection from Avon in the mail!  The New Collection is all about vibrant color, and Avon says: “We make it easy, you make it beautiful.” Easy and bright? Sounds good to me!

I received some awesomely colorful products, like the True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Purple Pop, the Ultra Glazewear Lip Gloss in Candy Pink and the Ultra Color Lipstick in Rich Ruby.

However, my favorite product by far was the Mega Effects Mascara, which had the coolest applicator I’ve ever seen!  The brush bends so you can apply your mascara at the perfect angle. Seriously, why had nobody thought of this before?!

Avon asked me to come up with a colorful head-to-toe look inspired by their bright collection. I wanted to pick an outfit that was vivid but didn’t overpower the gorgeous makeup, so I chose a green floral shirt, wine-colored coated jeans and brown leather riding boots.

I loved that the eye shadow quad came in different shades of purple, because purple is a great color for women with brown eyes like me!

How do you rock bright makeup? Tell us in the comments below!
