The Best Shoes at New York Fashion Week

The runways of New York Fashion Week took the phrase “beauty is pain” to new heights…literally. Even sneakers showcased heels! Of course, a little pain is worth it when you’re wearing such a mesmerizing piece of art work on your feet. From intricately cut-out detailing to knee-high gladiator heels (Yes, the gladiator style is back), these shoes could make any girl a shoe girl. They prove that fashion can be creative, artistic, and inspiring.

Marc by Marc Jacobs: You would never wear your sneakers on a night out, right? Well, Mr. Jacobs wants you to think again. He showcased sneakers with a  built in heel (which, yes, kind of defeats the point of wearing a sneaker) and utilized color blocking for a vibe that is a bit more glam than gym.

I like to think of these shoes by 3.1 Philip Lim as a modern take on the Cinderella slipper. Minimalism was a major trend seen at NYFW. This shoe proves that you don’t necessarily need loud colors or prints to make a statement. Sometimes simplicity really is best.

These metallic shoes from Cynthia Rowley are blindingly beautiful. Expect to see gold, silver, and bronze shoes this spring. Consider it your feet’s way of channeling Beyonce.

I literally gasped upon seeing these Peter Som heeled loafers. This style of shoe is a major trend for fall/winter, but you can expect to see it go on into spring, with bright colors, like this radiant coral. These shoes are professional, but still trendy and unique — perfect for a collegiette™ looking to build a stylish work wardrobe!

Honestly, I’m not so sure I could pull off these Marchesa heels, but I still find them incredibly inspiring and stunning. This kind of shoe is what NYFW is all about — proving that fashion is a form of art and architecture.

Not everything was difficult to walk in at NYFW. Tory Burch, the queen of classic, showcased these preppy loafers. The tribal print on the toe gives just a bit of trend. This is a great way to implement a daring trend (like bold prints) into your wardrobe, without looking like you’re headed to a Gaga concert.

There’s hardly any comment needed for these Elie Tahari stunners. The gladiator never looked so good.

Ralph Lauren’s wedge is a classic design, but the rose hue is a fresh take. The spring runways showed a ton of rose gold. A new neutral for spring? I’m thinking yes.

Which of these trends will you be trying out in spring?
