The Best of Milan Fashion Week

Lacquered silks, fun fringe and helmet hair, oh my! For the last week, fashion has taken over Milan, with all of the biggest names in the industry coming out to showcase their visions for Spring/Summer 2014. From celebs in the front row to ingenious designer collections, here’s a quick recap of this season’s Milan Fashion Week.

The collection everyone’s talking about? Dolce & Gabbana! The legendary designer duo really brought it at their first show post-tax evasion case with a collection that drew upon the ancient roots of one of their fave inspirations: Sicilian culture. From coin motifs to pillar-shaped heels to fun LBDs to lots (and LOTS) of red, fashionistas everywhere are raving about how cute everything is! A top conversation topic? The use of lacquered silk as an alternative to heavy leather and vinyl, a current trend that D&G made more summer-friendly. We can’t wait to see these pieces hit the streets for next season!

Ever wish your favorite trends would make a comeback? Top fashion house Moschino answered your prayers! In celebration of the label’s 30th anniversary, the S/S 2014 show featured the best looks from their entire design history. Who’d have thought nun’s costumes and rabbit ears could look so high-fashion? The show and the after party were a highlight of the week for many attendees.

Additionally, Prada brought it with a graffiti-inspired colorful collection, Jil Sander’s collection evoked a dreamy mood in pastel hues and Gucci’s pieces made us feel like we were ready to lounge on a yacht next to the likes of Anna Wintour and Blake Lively, both of whom were in attendance. Speaking of celebs, Selena Gomez even debuted a S/S 2014 runway look at Versace’s show, giving us even more reason to adore the young trend-setting starlet.
