Deciding which direction to take the decor in your home can be challenging. For your living room, maybe you want to go the classy route with studded chairs and sleek side tables. For your kitchen, you might be considering the farmhouse vibe, with wood accents and white cabinets galore. In your bedroom, your boho heart may come through in the cream colors and macrame wall art.

On one end of the decor spectrum, there are comfort pieces that are great for creating the cozy, home-y vibes you know and love. On the other end, there are luxe items that make you want to live your upper Manhattan dreams right in your living room. Finding the perfect balance between comfort and luxe can be tricky. But if the interior designer in you is struggling to find the perfect balance of all your aesthetics, I have some solutions for you. These five decor pieces blur the lines between cozy and stylish, and are the perfect way to blend both styles in your space.

A round coffee table

Whether the room in question is the living room, office, kitchen or bedroom, filling an empty space can make or break a room.  A sleek round coffee table keeps the luxe aspect of an open space but adds a cozy feel — and in this case, it makes the room. This works best with tables that include wood accents with unique legs or modern finishes. Comfort is key, and a coffee table is the best way to add comfort to a room in a way that’s also practical.

A round coffee table makes a great home for a small indoor plant or fashion magazines, or play with arrangements of other accessories to make it your own. Practicality doesn’t have to mean giving up luxe, and this Hearth & Hand table from Target ($140) is the perfect balance. The wooden tabletop warms up a room, especially one that is stark white or minimalistically chic. The wire legs add a modern accent that is simple, yet effective, allowing the rest of your decor to stand out.

A cushioned side chair

A room with comfort is one that allows for movie nights, family hangouts, morning readings, and relaxation. Couches and chairs are the staple furniture items to build this level of comfort in a space. When choosing a side chair for the empty corner of the bedroom or extended seating in the living room, opt for one that is minimalistic — but one that also has the right amount of cushion and softness to be the go-to chair for business Zoom meetings as well as those Sunday naps. A chair that is monotone and fresh with the cozyness of a bed is the perfect one to blur the lines between luxe and comfort. For the babes on a budget, this wooden-framed Homrest chair ($160) and this modern rounded chair from Target ($160) are the perfect fit to decorate your first apartment at an affordable price. These two pieces give you the luxe vibe at the price of comfort.

A cloud sofa

A sofa that resembles a cloud. Can this get any dreamier? The answer is yes, because there’s such a thing as a cloud sofa and it’s exactly what it sounds like. These sofas have a modern silhouette to give you all the luxe feels, but also deepest plush seats to make you feel like you are sitting on a cloud.

These couches are great for cozy Netflix watch parties or even an Instagram-worthy photoshoot. Once you have this sofa, you’ll never want to leave it. Who said lazy wasn’t the new luxury?

RH has a selection of multiple cloud sofas so you can find your dream one. Although these couches are a dream, the price isn’t realistic for college students or first-time homeowners. Thankfully, IKEA offers a dupe for the cloud sofa for just $600. This chic, all-white couch makes a dream living room without breaking your wallet. Play with the monotone couch by adding pillows of color or a throw blanket to add your personality into the living room. The all-white provides a canvas to build on your aesthetic.

An area rug

Sometimes the only thing needed to add warmth to a luxurious room is a rug. A room filled with sleek, modern pieces makes it feel expensive and luxurious, but it lacks the intimacy of home. Adding a rug to an open space of hardwood floors or tile flooring can not only give an anchored feel to the furniture, but creates a soft and cozy space.

A luxe room becomes one with comfort with the simple addition of a large area rug. Opt for one that has a simple, minimalistic pattern to maintain the classiness of the space. Overstock offers a wide selection of area rugs at a low price that can be utilized in any space! Options include this shag rug ($36) that is the perfect complement to modern furniture while adding softness underfoot. The two tones allow for flexibility when choosing accent pieces and decorative accessories.

A sleek accent mirror

Mirror, mirror on the wall: what’s the best decor piece of all? Mirrors bring life to a room and are great for maximizing lighting. Not only do they make the space appear bigger, but they make a statement. During the day, mirrors make the room feel light and airy, and at night they can reflect the light from the city or even just the lamp on your nightstand.

A mirror with a sleek frame is everything a room needs to bring it from blah to HGTV perfection. Not to mention,  a room with a mirror becomes your second make-up studio or hair salon. As I said before, practicality is key for comfort. This industrial floor mirror ($499) from West Elm is a perfect mirror to blur the lines between luxe and comfort. For a more boho option that is less expensive, Urban Outfitters has the mirror for you. This Ashton Mango Wood mirror ($279) adds warmth to the room with the wood grain hues in the frame, but maximizes the space by being full-length. It is the optimal blend between boho and chic.

Finding the perfect balance between luxe and comfort for your home does not have to be challenging. Mix pieces that bring you comfort and relaxation with pieces that are classy and chic. Opt for neutral tones, but throw in a pop of color here and there. Sleek and modern finishes elevate the room to the luxe level, but don’t have to take away from the practicality of your favorite decor. Find what pieces make your house into a home and go for it!
