Despite the fact that this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which airs next Tuesday, November 28, is set to be the brand’s most diverse yet, featuring more models of color than it ever has before, it goes without saying that the lingerie company is also still seriously lacking in size diversity, featuring pretty much only one body type on its runway — and Ashley Graham isn’t here for it.
The body positive model took to Instagram on Sunday (not-so-coincidentally the same day the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was filmed in Shanghai, China) to call VS out for making exactly zero progress when it comes to size diversity this year. (And every other year before it.)
Graham posted a photo of herself strutting down the runway in lingerie and some (photoshopped) wings — but they weren’t Victoria’s Secret wings. The photo was actually taken in 2016 when Graham walked the runway for size-inclusive brand Addition Elle, which makes lingerie for sizes 12 to 26.
“Got my wings!… my #AdditionElle wings! #thickthighssavelives,” the model captioned the photo, seemingly throwing some major shade at Victoria’s Secret.
Despite tons of Victoria’s Secret fans that have been asking for more size inclusivity on the brand’s annual runway show, and the fact that Graham has previously said she would “absolutely” say yes to walking the VS Fashion Show, Graham was yet again noticeably absent from this year’s runway — and many are viewing it as a snub to Victoria’s Secret’s curvier customers. Here’s hoping the brand will get the message next year — after all, Graham has officially already proven that she’d look hot AF on the VS runway.
