7 Statement Sandals You Need for Summer (& Yes, You CAN Actually Wear Them With Everything)

It’s summer and that means it’s officially sandal season! Vogue has you covered in the statement summer dress department, but sometimes you want to look just as fashion-forward in shorts and a tee – and that’s where these trendy sandals come in. Even if you’re more of a fashion-sneaker kind of girl, don’t be intimidated by swapping out your comfy kicks. We promise that these sandals are just as comfy as they are stylish.

Here are seven statement-making sandals that will take your summer style staples to the next level.

1.  Viola Satin Fringe Slide Sandals (Kenneth Cole, $99)

These satin sandals from Kenneth Cole definitely scream summer. Not only are they bright and colorful, but they have the perfect amount of statement-making fringe to make you look and feel like you just stepped out from an exotic bazaar on your way to the beach. The low heel is really flattering while still being comfortable. They’re also available in a vibrant green, but we’re low-key obsessed with the hot pink.

Wear them with literally anything to make your outfit just a little more dressy and sophisticated — you’ll be surprised about how versatile they are!

2. Reason Slide Sandals (Steve Madden, $79.95)

If your go-to little black dress and diamond earring combo were a sandal, this would be it. These Steve Madden slides are all kinds of glam while still being casual enough to wear with jeans and a tee. TBH, they make the biggest fashion statement when paired with everyday basics. And if you absolutely hate wearing heels, try rocking them with a black romper next girl’s night out.

3. Becky Leather Sandals (Vagabond, $120)

Swedish shoe company Vagabond has updated gladiator sandals with a futuristic twist — super thin straps and bright metallic gold leather. The square toe makes them stand out from your average summer slides. Stick with the ancient-meets-modern theme by pairing them with a white sundress and delicate gold jewelry.

4. Minorca High Platform (Soludos, $143)

It’s not summer without espadrilles. This pair from Soludos shows you that statement-making shoes don’t always have to be colorful — the silhouette can make enough of a statement on its own. The neutral colors let the extreme platform shine and they really go with everything. Wear them and make any outfit look #OOTD ready.

5. Raye X House of Harlow 1960 Glimmer Sandal (Raye, $148)

Who knew minimalist sandals could be so fun? They almost look more like jewelry than shoes, and the delicate straps balance out the bright rainbow colors so that they make a statement without looking too over-the-top. Keep your outfit neutral and stick to light, airy fabrics to match their breezy vibe.

6. Cally Illusion Block Heel Slide Sandals (Charles David, $219)

OK, is it summer 2018 or summer 3018? These ultra-futuristic block heel sandals from Charles David are out of this world. They have clear paneling a la Yeezy, but they take the sleek, modern aesthetic a step further with shiny silver leather. Don’t be afraid to wear them with denim or other more casual staples because they’ll elevate any outfit. Of course, they’re also perfect for dressier outfits, especially summer evening looks.

7. Apple Sandal (Sigerson Morrison, $350)

These snakeskin print sandals from Sigerson Morrison are just so cool. From the buckle detailing to the asymmetrical heel, they’re statement-making without seeming like they’re trying too hard to make a statement. They’re low-key edgy, making them the perfect way to balance out a girly sundress. Or, play up the edgy look with black cutoffs or destroyed denim.

From a show-stopping pair of block heels to a vibrant set of flats, there are tons of sandal options out there to try. No matter your style, statement-making sandals are a super easy way to elevate any look this summer!
