Cat lovers, rejoice! Today is National Cat Day, and in honor of the most purr-fect holiday ever invented (and because kitties have taken the fashion world by storm—we’re looking at you, Choupette!), we wanted to show you how to rock some of our favorite cat-inspired styles. Whether you’re the proud owner of a kitty of your own or you just happen to be obsessed (guilty!), here are seven pieces to help you show off your feline fascination.
1. Cozy sweater
Perfect for staying cozy during fall and winter days, this Meow Graphic Sweater ($24.90 at Forever 21) is sassy but still subtle enough to wear to class. Pair it with a slouchy beanie for an effortless vibe, or add dark skinnies and boots for a more sophisticated look.
2. Funky flats
Cats and stripes are two of our favorite things, so we fell head over heels for these Up Your Alley Cat Flat in Stripes ($59.99 at ModCloth). All you need are some black tights and a wool coat and you’re good to go (and looking very Jessica Day!).
3. Tank
Spruce up your standard crop top with a flirty message, like this Meow Whiskers Tank ($19.90 at Delia*s). This would look positively purr-fect with a bodycon skirt for a night out or underneath an unbuttoned flannel for the day.
4. Stackable rings
For the girl who loves cats but wants something a little more subtle and sophisticated, the Lovecats ring ($32 at Catbird) is exactly what you’re looking for. It’s delicate and simple, so you can go for a minimalist look by wearing it on its own—or stack it with tons of gold bands for something that’s a little more glamorous.
5. Bold bodycon
A black bodycon dress is a staple for every collegiette, but this Ana Cat Face Bodycon Dress ($20 at boohoo) adds a little something special to the standard. We love the simple white cat face, especially paired with the long sleeves. We would rock this all autumn/winter long, and if you’re looking for a low-maintenance Halloween costume, this would definitely do the trick.
6. Trendy tights
Meow is right! If you love the look of thigh-highs but hate tugging them up, these LOVEsick Cat Garter Tights ($10 at Hot Topic) are the perfect solution. Basic black tights are boring but this frisky pair, worn with a casual skirt and sweater or shift dress, is perfect for adding a feline flair to your outfit.
7. Pretty peplum
We may or may not be completely obsessed with this ASOS Shift Dress in Scuba in Cat Print with Peplum Hem ($72.01 at ASOS)… just look at it! Not only is the lilac color gorgeous, but the kittens on it are just adorable. The color may be a bit more spring/summer, but if you pair it with tights (though probably not the cat tights…) and a black or grey cardigan, it would be perfect for the cooler months.
