As much as we love cheering on a new brand or game of designer musical chairs, it’s easy to roll our eyes at a new celebrity brand. Though we may swoon over our favorite stars’ red carpet styles, that doesn’t necessarily mean they have what it takes to make it on the catwalk. But, when you’re least expecting it, a celebrity comes out with a line that trendsetters adore. While we’re still a little skeptical about Kanye West’s return to the fashion world, these celebrity designers are major.

1. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s The Row
Since the days of sunnies with colored lenses and crimped manes, the former Full House starlets were always style trailblazers. Now, with streamlined silhouettes and coveted bags, these two are bona fide designers. But, in true Olsen fashion, the dynamic duo have also made their place in the fashion world with their contemporary line, Elizabeth and James.

2. Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B.
Perhaps the infamous fashion critic Cathy Horyn isn’t a fan of L.A.M.B.–“ If ever there was a reason for a pop star to concentrate on her vocal skills, it was Gwen Stefani’s fashion meltdown,” she once wrote– we have a major crush on the No Doubt frontwoman’s brand. Since we all secretly want to be as cool as Stefani, her funky threads and rocker accessories are just what the sartorial doctor ordered. After all these years of designing, the singer-turned-designer’s momentum proves that L.A.M.B. is here to stay.

3. Katie Holmes’s Holmes & Yang
Once upon a time, Katie Holmes was Dawson’s Creek‘s sweetheart. Then, she was Mrs. Cruise. Now, it seems as if the A-Lister has found her place in the fashion industry. The tastemaker teamed up with Jeanne Yang and debuted their line in 2009. The result? Easy-to-wear pieces in versatile prints and fabrics. J’adore.

4. Victoria Beckham’s Ready-to-Wear Line
When a woman’s alter ego is “Posh Spice,” you know she’s destined for fashion fame. Luckily, Victoria Beckham’s brand is so much more than a collection of “little Gucci dresses.” With a cocktail mix of classic silhouettes and statement pieces, it’s no surprise that this line has scored worldwide success. Not only is this collection a fan favorite at NewYork Fashion Week, Beckham won the British Fashion Award for “Designer Brand of the Year” in 2011. Cheers, Posh Spice.

6. Jessica Simpson’s Shoe Collection
The singer has never shied away from an entrepreneurial project. Doesn’t anyone remember her yummy cosmetics collection? Alas, the days of “Creamy” lipgloss and “Dreamy” body butter are long gone; however, Simpson has created her very own fashion empire. We hate to be biased, but her shoe collection is quite phenonmenonal. The Fashion Star judge understands that style and comfort are equally important. And with a variety of sandals, boots, flats and heels, how ccould a collegiette resist?
