Welcome back, everyone! November is finally upon us, which means that Thanksgiving is coming up. Now, I know that not everyone celebrates this holiday, but it can be a fun idea to discuss. Thanksgiving is often looked at as a holiday to celebrate with family, but in the last few decades, there has been a new emergence for the holiday. Instead of only celebrating with family, the new generation has been looking for a focus to celebrate with friends. Without further ado, here are some fun activities that may go along with your upcoming Friendsgiving celebration this year!
Activity #1: Pin the Tail on the Turkey
I have seen this activity done for many different holidays. Although, it is stereotypically done for children’s birthdays, there have been some new versions of this that I have seen. Typically, you will display a turkey poster or display on the wall and take a paper tail to pin on the turkey. This may also involve blindfolds to ensure that the game has a challenge. Having this at your next Friendsgiving may allow for new funny memories to form!
Activity #2: Thankful Reflection Poster
Although, this activity may be a little more sentimental than others, it can be a great idea to reflect on items that everyone is thankful for. Not everyone has to complete this activity, but adding this can create some warm-hearted and positive memories with one another. By having a poster board on the wall, individuals can write what they may be thankful for on a sticky note. Then, once the sticky note is complete, they can attach it to the board. This can be a great reflective moment at your Friendsgiving, which may be what your friend group is looking for.
Activity #3: Thanksgiving-Themed Trivia
This may be the activity that I bring forth at my Friendsgiving this year! By having a fun Thanksgiving Trivia Game, this can allow for a little competition amongst those who are playing. Whether you create a Kahoot, Jeopardy, or more, this can be a great activity to enhance new knowledge as well. By learning about Thanksgiving and its traditions, this can allow it to be both fun and serve as a learning experience for everyone!
Overall, Friendsgiving doesn’t always have activities that tie along with it. Often times, being with one another may be all that your Friendsgiving may need. I hope that these options above gave you some thoughts on whether you will incorporate some activities into your Friendsgiving this year!
