Delight Ministries is an organization that has over 205 chapters with over 14,700 women involved. Its newest chapter is coming to Youngstown State University.
According to their website, Delight Ministries’ “heartbeat is to provide invitational Christ-centered community on college campuses that lead women to fall deeper in love with Jesus. Delight chapters are recognized organizations, student-led, and rooted in Scripture-based curriculum and resources. We are passionate about empowering college women in the name of Jesus to lead, disciple, and transform the culture of their campus.”
Chayton Watkins, a senior nursing student at YSU, decided to start the club on campus this semester. She was first inspired by hearing about Delight Ministries on a podcast called For the Girl. She says, “I wanted to create an organization where girls felt welcomed and comfortable, and where they had a place to connect with each other while learning about God and growing together.”
The organization has seven members so far who are all part of its leadership team. They are hoping to attract more new members and connect with YSU students at their first event at the end of this semester. While the exact date has not yet been decided on, they are looking forward to sharing more about the organization.
Delight YSU is planning on having weekly meetings where they will discuss chapters they have read out of the Delight booklets, worship together, and do team-bonding activities. Regular meetings will be starting next semester, and dates will be announced soon.
For now, you can follow them on Instagram @delight_ysu. They will be posting updates about their events and meetings there. If any student would like to learn more or ask any questions, they can DM their Instagram.
Watkins says that Delight Ministries is “not only a place to grow your faith but a place to gain lifelong friendships.”
