Nineties nostalgia, it hits us every time we hear those cheesy tunes and boy band blues. If like me, you’re wanting to relive those tastefully tacky times when flares were the height of fashion, then head on down to Gin & Juice. This night of old school hip hop and RnB tunes will no doubt satisfy your nineties craving. So seize a scrunchie and dress in double denim because it’s Gin & Juice.

Having been one of the first student led nights, Gin & Juice slowly fizzled out of the student scene as its founders graduated. There was however, one man who could rescue and restore such a popular night. Welcome Saam Zonoozi and his right hand man on the decks, Jack Luckett. A Cinderella story of a first year promoter badgering us with guest lists and tickets to actually achieving his own student night. So lets see how it went.

The first night of an event is always an interesting one, you’re wondering whether to buy tickets and how many people will turn up and if that scrunchie was ever a wise choice. After drinking some gin and juice, the night turned into a success and the 9th of October was a time machine to the past. The Fibbers that you know was transformed into a 90’s dream, a kaleidoscope of tie-dye, denim and high tops. Although we all secretly love a bit of Taylor Swift, Gin & Juice offers a range of long lost hip hop and RnB tunes that really let you get your grind and boogie on. This night definitely stands out from the usual student nights, whether it’s your taste of music or not. But, what does the owner himself have to say about the event, “It was a lot of hassle sorting out and organizing it, but it was clear that it was worth it when I saw how successful it was”.

Despite freshers’ flu and fatigue, we are still ready to party. After such a successful night, we can’t help but feel excited for the next Gin & Juice. So save your scrunichies and keep the converse, as Gin & Juice will be back!
