With 6 classes this semester all online, Notion has been a lifesaver for me. Notion is a free all-in-one online workspace. It’s customizable to whatever your needs and aesthetics are. Here are 5 ways students should use Notion to optimize their productivity.

Academia

Notion provides tools that allow its users to create subsections into their main sections. One of my sections is called Academia. In this section I have created pages for each of my classes. Within these classes I have hyperlinked my syllabus, important documents, homework and readings. This gives me easy access for whatever I need for the class. I am also able to write notes. Notion also connects to your Spotify so I connect a separate playlist for each of my classes. This helps me with focusing while I study and write my notes without having to go on my Spotify app on my phone and get distracted by the temptation of other apps. Users can also customize their page to fit their aesthetic. There are a ton of Notion inspirations on Pinterest and downloadable templates you can find on Youtube or Reddit.

Finances

As a student, it’s important to track our finances and be aware of what we are spending our money on. Notion gives you the option to create user-friendly spreadsheets (or you can download a template). Within these spreadsheets, you can track how much you spend and categorize your spendings. You can even set alarms that will give you notifications for when bills are due.

Nutrition

Whether you want to start healthy eating or want somewhere to keep track of all the TikTok recipes you come across, you can input all of this information on Notion. I have been trying to eat healthy and be more aware of the nutrients I’ve been putting into my body. So, in my Notion, I’ve been keeping track of what I’ve been eating and planning what I would like to eat in the week. I also write down what nutrients each meal will provide me with and how these nutrients benefit me. I take a lot of vitamins and supplements so I make sure to set an alarm for when to take them and I make a checklist. This has all helped me keep track of what I’m putting into my body. For this section, I recommend talking to your doctor or nutritionist first to see what plan they recommend and if they can tell you what you are deficient in.

Media

Being a student comes with a lot of Netflix binge-watching and procrastination. This is okay in moderation! I have been currently reverting back into my anime phase and I was becoming very overwhelmed with all the animes I was planning to watch. So I decided to make an Anime page in my Notion. This page consists of the name of the anime, if I’ve seen it/currently watching/haven’t seen yet, a description and rating, and which website to watch it on. This has helped me tremendously with keeping track of what I watch. I also set reminders for when new episodes of certain shows come out. Along with anime, I also have a similar page for books. I’ve noticed that aside from school, I don’t really read. So by having a visual tool that has every description of books I want to read and links for where to purchase or find free pdfs, I no longer have an excuse not to read. A Media page is so customizable for whatever your interests are and it’s nice to have everything in one place. You can use this for music, tv, movies, video games, art or any hobbies you have.

Vision Board

My Notion vision board is probably my most prized possession on the website. Online vision boards are so versatile and hold no limits. I like putting quotes and pictures of what I want my future or current life to look like. Having these visual reminders really inspires me to stay on track even when I feel overwhelmed with school and like giving up. I’ve also seen people make vision boards with tarot cards, astrology, and verses from their holy book.

There are so many online resources out there that can make a student’s life a lot easier and more aesthetically pleasing. Notion is a great all-in-one tool that does everything! If you’re tired of looking at your school’s designated learning portal all day, I highly recommend giving Notion a try! It covers all your adulting needs with style.
