In the past few months, there have been some amazing rom-coms released in theatres and on Netflix. These movies will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside – as if you were falling in love for the first time –  and they’ll make you laugh too! Scroll down to find out about the newest rom-coms that you need to watch.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

Based on the best selling novel of the same name by Jenny Han, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before was released on Netflix in August and it quickly became a fan favourite. As a huge fan of the books, I was excited to watch it and (thankfully) it was everything I could’ve hoped for. Not only is this movie aesthetically pleasing to watch, it also has an amazing cast – who played their respective characters to the T – and a great soundtrack. Plus, fans everywhere have been falling in love with Lana Condor and Noah Centineo who definitely have a great acting career ahead of them. Hopefully, we’ll get a second and third movie based off the following books too!

Sierra Burgess is a Loser

Sierra Burgess is a Loser is a cute teen rom-com starring Shannon Purser (Stranger Things) and Noah Centineo (The Fosters). The movie contains a case of mistaken identity and an unlikely alliance between a ‘loser’ and a popular girl. It also touches on what it’s like being a teenage girl in high school when you don’t fit the ‘normal’ mold. Although it has some cringe-y moments (like most teen movies), Sierra Burgess is a Loser is a sweet movie that’s worth watching.

Crazy Rich Asians

Crazy Rich Asians is an amazing movie that everyone should watch. Critics and fans have praised the movie since it came out and it’s not only because it’s the first big budget Hollywood movie with an all-Asian cast to hit theatres since the 90’s. Crazy Rich Asians had everything from hilarious characters to a luxurious wedding along with a few subplots that’ll tug at your heart strings. Constance Wu and Henry Golding – who play the main characters – have a great chemistry that helped deliver the love story. The movie also depicted the extravagance of the characters’ lives and the beauty of Singapore. It’s one of a kind and should definitely be on your list.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

As a fan of the first movie (Mamma Mia!), I (like many others) was excited to hear about this follow-up. Musicals and love stories make a great combination and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is the perfect example. It was well executed and the casting was on point. The ‘past’ sections of the movie where they explored Donna’s (played by Meryl Streep and Lily James) life before she got pregnant with Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) was done in an entertaining way. Overall, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was fun to watch and was definitely one of the top movies of the summer.

Set It Up

Set It Up is another cute and funny Netflix original. All the actors in the movie are super talented and they played their characters very well. It was refreshing to see characters in their twenties since not a lot of rom-coms show characters within that age range. The movie had some great scenes (the pizza one!), a funny meet-cute, and a happy ending which (in my books) makes it a great rom-com.

So the next time you’re in the mood for some romantic comedies, you should definitely watch the movies listed above (they won’t disappoint). Happy watching!
