Umbrella – I cannot stress this enough, because in York, it loves to rain… a lot. Don’t find this out on your way to class through a flood!

Rain Boots – again with the rain… it sucks, so be prepared. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

Favorite/Versatile Winter and Rain Jacket– I can practically hear my mother saying, “Be sure to wear a jacket!” But seriously, mom is right. It can sometimes get below 10 degrees in the winter here in York, so please don’t get frostbite because you think you’re too cool to stay warm properly.

Cheap Gloves – they have them in the bookstore or at Wal-Mart for about a dollar per pair (in different colors too!). I suggest getting 2-3 pairs, because you’ll definitely lose one or two throughout the school year. Also, you can keep them in the pocket of your jacket for convenient storage!

Cute Coffee Mug/Travel Mug -Whether you’re bringing coffee to class, or doing homework in the arctic tundra (aka the bottom floor of the library), you need a travel mug that will last you through the bitter cold! It also makes for a great hand-warmer while you’re walking to class!

*Bonus points if it’s spill-proof, or if you can stow it away in a pocket in your backpack

Go-To Cozy Outfits – definitely have a few “Lazy-day” outfits set aside for those cold mornings when “actually trying” means yoga pants and a cozy long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt. Keep them separate in your closet or in an easy-to-access spot when you’re running to class.

A Good Face/Body Lotion – the winter gets pretty brutal, so don’t let your skin suffer! Get a decent face and body lotion to keep your skin perfectly smooth and moisturized throughout the winter season!

Cozy Pajama Bottoms – Make the stumble out of bed a little cozier… get yourself some cute PJ pants to snuggle up in during the nights. Besides, those dorm rooms get too stuffy to even have the heat on for long!
