Sam Wingate was a Senior Psychology major and Fine Art Major here at YCP. She was involved with the swim team and she was a loving sister of Sigma Delta Tau. Sam joked and said she joined Sig Delt because it said EAT and she liked to eat a lot but really she fell in love with the sisterhood. She used to call her group of friends the island of misfit toys and said she wouldn’t have it any other way. The quickest way to Sam’s heart was through food, preferably cake, and cat videos. She really wanted to be an art major but decided instead she wanted to be a psych major so she could work in hospitals with children who were having a hard time. On Sunday, November 13th, 2016, Sam lost her long standing battle with cancer. She was strong until the very end and now she finally has peace and rest.
York College, the swim team, and the sisters of Sigma Delta Tau will feel her loss with less laughter, and one less shining soul in the world.
She will always be loved and remembered.
