For those of you that have not heard of One Tree Hill your life is void of meaning. Ok, so I’m being a little dramatic but one tree hill has left its mark on my life. I was a  junior in high school when I first heard about it through a friend and I was instantly confused by the name. The show follows 2 half brothers in high school who play basketball in Tree Hill, NC. Sounds like the start of a messed up cliche drama I know, but it is so much more and oh SO addicting! It was the only show that I have ever truly binged. Luckily for me, I started watching OTH in the winter months so the snow days allowed me to watch all 9 seasons in 6 weeks while taking 7 classes. I watched the series at the same time as two of my closest friends so it was a bonding experience to say the least. We still rewatch episodes together from time to time. Basically, my love for one tree hill has always been pure.

So, naturally you can imagine my surprise when I read that One Tree Hill is LEAVING netflix on October 1st! How could netflix get rid of something so good? Almost all my friends have now watched and grown to love the show. I seriously thought it was some kind of sick prank, but alas the rumors are true. So in honor of the show that changes lives I would like to share the top ten lessons One Tree Hill has taught me:

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

1. Don’t give up on your dream

Nathan Scott faced a lot of barriers in his basketball career. He got into his dream school Duke for college but went to Maryland instead after Haley got pregnant. After college he got drafted to the NBA but suffered from a spinal cord injury after a bar fight and had to start from the bottom all over again…but he perseveres and makes it!

2. You are always good enough

High school can be rough. People make assumptions, and judgements and label you. People think they know you but they don’t yet set standards and expectations regardless. Brooke Davis showed how although she was popular she had an internal struggle with herself based on all the labels she constantly fought. She had to learn that she was good enough just being herself.

3.  It’s OK to be different

James Lucas Scott (son of Haley and Nathan) wanted to wear his red superman cape to school after his friend Quentin died. But, all of the kids at the playground made fun of him, so Nathan went to school with Jamie in a red cape and showed how it was ok…even cool….to be different!

4. Speak up. Stand up.

Peyton helped a new girl fight against the bullies when they made wrong assumptions. She helped show that you can’t give people power over you lives: you have to make a stand for what you believe in!

5. Make every moment matter

It’s so difficult to say what you mean and mean what you say. The true meaning sometimes gets caught up in all the words in life or sometimes we are just too afraid to say what we really want. Clay showed us that we can’t let moments be wasted, life is too precious.

So, these are just a few of many lessons I have learned from one tree hill and they do not even begin to do justice to my favorite moments.  One tree hill is one of a kind and I strongly suggest that if you haven’t yet….start watching now!!!!! ! I promise you won’t be disappointed.
