I must say, I’ve cried more times in college than I ever have in my entire life – and I am the BIGGEST crybaby you will ever meet. I cry at the drop of a dime. I cried so much that I got sick of myself crying and thought I was just weak. Now, some people will argue that crying is a sign of weakness, but after some researching, I would argue that people who cry are the strongest individuals you could ever meet.

In an article published on enlightenedsolutions.com, the author writes that “crying is the body’s way to not only reduce emotional stress, but process it. (This would explain my numerous days of crying in college.) Stress is very harmful to your body and will eventually take its toll. It has been known to cause headaches, tension in your joints and more. It can also cause acne – I know because I’ve experienced a lot of these symptoms before and I don’t realize that I’m stressed out until the day I hand in my assignments and I begin to feel better.

The stigma that crying isn’t good is something I refuse to accept. Even moreso now that I’ve met other people who can relate to it and don’t judge me because they cry a lot as well. It’s a beautiful support system!

Here are some memes and pics of celebrities crying to show you that it’s okay to cry – it is a recovery technique.

(Side note: if you haven’t seen it yet, watch the movie Cry Baby. That is all!)

And finally, always remember:

Now that I think about it, I believe I’m due for a good cry. So I have a proposal for you all: Let’s get together one day and have a good cry! Let’s make it National Cry Day. Whether you’re happy, sad, fine, depressed, whatever – a day of not judging others for crying. Let your emotions run wild and cry to let out all that stress.

Let me know what you feel about that and what day you think would be great to celebrate National Cry Day!
