8 Life Lessons I’ve Learned Thanks to Rupaul’s Drag Race

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at YCP chapter.

Over the summer, one of my good friend’s introduced me to a reality show called Rupaul’s Drag Race. The buzz about this show was always all over my news feed, but I never really found much interest in it… that is to say until my friend made me binge watch the entire ninth season with her. Now, I can full heartedly say that I am a HUGE fan of the show and it’s contestants. From the never ending drama to the lip sync for your life battles, whenever I watch an episode, I am instantly hooked. In a way, the show has taught me some very valuable life lessons.

1.) Always stay confident (aka You Better Work!)

2.) Being yourself is the best thing you can be, especially when you let your inner self shine through

3.) Mistakes are a natural part of human life

4.) If at first you don’t succeed…

5.) Bitterness is not the key (unless it’s some tasteful sass)

6.) “Be the best that you can be”

7.) You might have some haters in your life, but that’s okay!

8.) Most importantly…

It’s honestly hard to explain how much this show means to me. Sure, it’s only been in my life for a short while, but that short time has made such a huge difference, and I’m excited to see how it’ll help me continue to grow in the future!
