This week’s HerCampus cutie, Alex Lyon, comes as no surprise. A freshman from Minnesota, Alex is a down-to-earth, charming member of the Yale Hockey Team. Even though he was on the road with his team again this weekend, Alex took some time to tell us lots of stories about his Freshman fall, ideal date, embarrassing moments at Yale, and much more! What did you do this summer?
Nothing too exciting. I like to be on the boat or at different cabins with friends from home.
What is your favorite aspect about playing Hockey at Yale?
The hockey aspect is great, but I’ve always loved the relationships that are formed within the team.
Any embarrassing moments at Yale?
So many embarrassing moments so far. But probably when I was spacing out in Commons and ran into a helpless girl. Needless to say, her food went down too.
What organizations are you involved in on campus?
Big fan of the Minnesota Club, although I haven’t actually been able to make a meeting yet. Hockey and school seem to take up most of time my though.
What’s your best Yale memory so far?
Two weeks ago I got a B on my English paper, so I was pretty excited about that.
Describe your ideal date.
A nice dinner at a classy restaurant, and then the girl pays for the meal.
What’s your favorite place on campus?
I like all of the social activity that goes on around Old Campus.
What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?
I surprised my high school girlfriend with flowers for her graduation, but she lived two hours away and didn’t know that I was coming.
Do you have any advice for girls at Yale?
I’m still trying to understand girls, so I don’t think that it’s my place to be giving any advice.
Any guilty pleasures?
I’ve always had a soft spot for ice cream with peanut butter.
What’s a fun fact about yourself people at Yale wouldn’t know?
I’m an excellent chef.
Where can we find you on a Saturday night?
Maybe at 380 Crown with the guys, or Toad’s if I’m in the mood.

Where do you see yourself in five or ten years?
Hopefully still playing hockey, maybe still trying to get my Yale degree though.

Mythical Creatures and School Teachers always provides for an exciting night.

What’s the nicest thing you’ve ever done for a girl?
When I was thirteen, I baked my mom a cake for her birthday.
