XU Professional Mentorship Program

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

Students at Xavier University have the exceptional opportunity to gain a mentor during their time as a musketeer. Through the career development office, a mentor and a mentee are paired together and establish a long-lasting, professional and friendly relationship that can help with career opportunities, academics, and even solving everyday problems. Called the Professional Mentor Program, it is available to all majors and for students who are twelve or more months away from graduation, but are at least sophomores. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required to participate.

Having a mentor is a great way to build a resumé and network with professionals in your line of work. While a mentor-mentee partnership may be two separate professions, a mentor always has resources to network their mentee with others who can help them with career progression. The Professional Mentor Program has a 98% success rate; 98% of participants either find a job or move into graduate school upon graduation from the University.

Information sessions are currently going on to learn more about the Mentorship Program where those who attend can listen to personal reviews by two student mentee ambassadors and two professional mentors. The dates are:

October 12th @ 3:00pm in GSC – Arrupe Overlook

October 17th @ 6:00pm in GSC – Arrupe Overlook

October 18th @ 5:00pm in GSC – Arrupe Overlook
