Profile: A-Team for SGA

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

Who is A-Team?

Aimee Boivin, Class of 2018

  • Hometown: Addison, VT
  • Majors/Minors: Marketing
  • Something most people don’t know about you: I learned how to sail this summer!
  • Favorite thing about Xavier: I love the people who work in the Hoff Dining Commons. They always put a smile on your face!
  •  Favorite aspect of your platform: Fighting sexual assault is an important issue on campus. I’m always struck by the thought that this issue affects all Xavier students, and through our connections with the City of Cincinnati’s It’s On Us task force, we have a really great opportunity to make change.

Alex Hale, Class of 2018

  • Hometown: Detroit, MI
  • Majors/Minors: PPP; History minor
  • Something most people don’t know about you: I’ve worked at a running specialty store four three years and was incredibly committed to running in high school.
  • Favorite thing about Xavier: Father LaRocca’s pasta dinners on Fridays!
  • Favorite aspect of your platform: Strengthening our Ignatian Heritage is particularly important to me. We are a Jesuit school founded with the mission of making men and women who are for and with others. We must make that mission known so that we can build a better school and a better world.

Adam Dill, Class of 2018

  • Hometown: Cincinnati, OH
  • Majors/Minors: PPP, Theater double major
  • Something most people don’t know about you: I write music for fun.
  • Favorite thing about Xavier: I love the friends of made here. We have a very strong community, and I hope to maintain these relationships long after I leave Xavier.
  • Favorite aspect of your platform: Sustainability is particularly important to me. Respecting our environment is pivotal to our future. By working with the City of Cincinnati, we can improve sustainablity by taking advantage of the resources of the City.

How long have you been putting together your platform?

Our platform has been thought about for a while, but we didn’t begin putting down our thoughts on paper until around a month ago.

What is one thing that makes you stand out from the other Exec. campaigns?

We are the only ticket that has someone who works part time with a member of Cincinnati City Council. This is important because through collaboration with the City and SGA, we can accomplish so much more.

What makes you work well as a team?

We all are great friends outside of this campaign and we all have different strengths. Alex is quick to learn new concepts and is focused on the big picture. Aimee is detail oriented and can nit-pick any idea until it’s perfect. Adam is always aware of the ultimate goal of the team and can keep us on track.

What’s been the most challenging part of the process?

Meeting the other tickets has made this incredibly hard because every single person running for SGA is extremely qualified and is a genuine joy to be around. These are people that we are suppose to be running against, and yet they are so positive that it’s hard to do that.

What is one aspect of your platform that could be improved?

Accessibility is important and yet we only officially have one issue of accessibility in our official platform. If we are elected, we will work with one of our opposing tickets who are much stronger on accessibility to see what we can do across campus.

Which aspect of your platform do you think is most beneficial to the Xavier community?

All of our platform is important, but in particular, the mission of a Jesuit school is to instill in its students values that prepare them to lead lives of service. That Ignatian Heritage is lacking on campus and we believe that by giving students the opportunity to learn about these issues, many students will be opened up to a spirituality that will benefit their lives in very real ways.
