Gryffindor: Fenwick Place and Brockman Hall
“You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart”
– The Sorting Hat, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Shared bathrooms aren’t for the faint of heart. Neither is living in close quarters with five other people. Brockman and Fenwick both have their ups, but it definitely doesn’t come without their own fair share of struggles. For those who have had to time your bathroom trips to correspond with the cleaning lady and those who were brave enough to make friends with their secluded neighbors in Fenwick, welcome to Gryffindor.
Ravenclaw: Buenger Hall, Commons Apartments
“Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you’ve a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind.”
– The Sorting Hat, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Honors and grad students know the secrets of studying for success. All that hard work will pay off in the long run, so keep at it. Well, in reality, all Xavier students study tirelessly (at least the night before the exam). In any case, we commend you for your commitment to your classes but please refrain from reminding the professor to collect our homework. Ravenclaw is happy to have you!Â
Hufflepuff: Kuhlman Hall, Husman Hall
“You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil”
– The Sorting Hat, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Hufflepuffs are known for their inclusivity, and who is more inclusive than the two dorms that are quite literally connected with each other? Some people may think that Hufflepuff is a weak house, but they’d be wrong. Badgers aren’t afraid of some determination and hard work. Wear the yellow and black proud, and welcome to the house!Â
Slytherin: Village Apartments, Manor House, University Apartments, 1019 Dana
“Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You’ll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means,
To achieve their ends.”
– The Sorting Hat, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
The location of the Slytherin common room is just as mysterious as to what really happens when you move semi-off campus to one of these Xavier locations. To be sure, when you’re not close enough to the cafeteria to walk there in your pjs (we’re looking at you Fenwick), you have to be resourceful. And, as much as you don’t want to admit that you like going to parties in the Village, Slytherins do know how to have a good time. Slytherin is happy to open their common room doors to those who live on the outskirts of campus; they’ll help you on your way to greatness.Â
