We have all had those Sundays when we really just don’t want to study and crave an adventure outside of Cincinnati. HCXU has compiled everything you have to do to take an adventure to Dayton. It’s only an hour drive and, don’t worry, HCXU has double-checked and you do not have to drive by UD to get to any of the following places. Â
Bill’s Donuts
Â
It’s the only donut shop in Ohio to make it into the top 50 shops in the nation. As a Dayton native, I can truly say that these are the best donuts you will ever taste in your life! The best thing about Bill’s is that it’s open 24/7, and one donut will only cost you 80¢. Â
Marion’s PiazzaÂ
A Dayton Pizza Tradition! It is ranked #1 in the nation in independent pizza restaurants. With a signature thin crust and square pieces instead of regular slices, Marion’s Piazza is something you don’t want to skip on your trip to Dayton. Â
Ghostlight Coffee
Â
Â
Known for their interesting coffee flavors, this picturesque coffee place will steal your heart. They have local musicians come in and play so you can have small town vibes while drinking some amazing coffee.Â
Christopher’s Restaurant and Catering
A very small and cozy restaurant, Christopher’s will satisfy your craving for your mom’s home cooking without actually going home. With many vegan and vegetarian options, Christopher’s makes an effort to serve high quality food for a decent price. This is a perfect brunching place, but the peanut butter chocolate pie is an absolute must!Â
Dayton DragonsÂ
If you are in Dayton during baseball season you must go to a Dragon’s game. Dayton’s own minor league baseball game is a blast, with the mascots Gem and Heater who put on a show as you eat your delicious hot dogs. It’s the perfect way to spend an evening with your squad.Â
Dayton Art InstituteÂ
With your ALL Card, it’s free to visit this beautiful building and see all the different exhibits inside. Exhibits are changing all the time, so make sure you check the schedule so you can see the one you want!Â
WPAFB (Wright-Patternson Air Force Base) Air Force MuseumÂ
This is the oldest and largest military aviation museum in the world! With free admission, you can see aircrafts from WWII and aircrafts that NASA has used. Â
The GreeneÂ
This is an outdoor mall where you can not only do some serious shopping but also eat at fantastic restaurants! On the weekends they even have live entertainment in the square. Â
2nd Street MarketÂ
Similar to Findlay Market, 2nd Street Market has tons of local venders where you can buy anything from produce, to flowers, to soaps, to fresh baked goods. Go on Sunday morning and it will for sure be the setting of your next Instagram pic.
