Campus Profile: Leah Himes, HCXU Editor-in-Chief

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

Name: Leah Himes

Yeah: Sophomore

Hometown: Cincinnati

Major(s)/Minor(s): English major/Psychology minor

Why did you choose your major/minor?: I choose my major because I didn’t like math or science but I’m pretty good at English. For my minor, I had no interest in Psychology until after taking a General Psychology class freshman year.

What is your favorite thing about Xavier?: My favorite thing about Xavier is that it’s a small campus and you’ll see everyone on it, whether it’s in the dining hall or just walking to class. I also like who beautiful XU’s campus is when the sun is setting.

What is something you like about living on campus?: I like the fact that I’m surrounded by everything, like it’s just so close. I also like the fact that I made a lot of new friends on campus.

Hobbies? Jobs?: My hobbies include reading, writing, watching Netflix and hanging with friends. I work at the Starbucks at University Station, so stop by for coffee or just to say hi!

What made you want to get involved in HCXU?: I wanted to get involved with HCXU after my friend from UC told me about the one on UC’s campus. I heard you could write articles and/or edit them. Since I’m an English major, I thought this club would be perfect for me and help me find out what I want to do in life with my English major.

Do you have a quote or saying you live by?: “No one looks stupid when they’re having fun” – Amy Poehler.

How do you feel about the Pizza ATM?: Honestly, I’m not sure. I haven’t tried it out yet, only because it was out of pizzas every time, or I wasn’t hungry. But don’t get me wrong, I think it’s super cool that they put America’s first Pizza ATM here at XU!

Fun Fact: I am short, can’t reach high places and don’t like opening big heavy doors
