If we asked your friends to describe you in three words, what do you think they would say?

Thoughtful, Free-Spirited, Passionate

Can you give us a short background of Unified for Uganda? What does this club do throughout the year?

Unified for Uganda (U4U) is a non-profit organization based out of Cincinnati. The organization supports some of Uganda’s most destitute students through the empowerment of American youth. The Xavier chapter is honestly amazing; we sponsor 9 of the organization’s 75 students each year. Our sponsorship covers the students’ school tuition, supplies, a mentorship, shoes, a daily meal and more. We are in close contact with our office in Uganda and are truly a part of one big family. Throughout the year, we meet to organize partnerships with other clubs on campus to sponsor our students, plan fundraisers, and spread awareness about the power of education. I am so grateful to be a part of U4U and I am constantly impressed with the passion, energy and thoughtfulness of all of our club members.

Why were you personally drawn to U4U? When did you get involved on campus?

I was personally drawn to U4U my freshman year because a few close friends were involved with the organization at their high schools. I regularly attended meetings my freshman year and then grew to have a strong passion for U4U. The work the organization does is inspiring and I am so happy to be a part of it all. Following my freshman year, I took leadership positions within U4U. At Xavier, I serve as Publicity Officer, doing things such as designing posters, t-shirts and running social media posts. For U4U overall, I serve as the Director of Social Media and Marketing, coordinating across chapters and our office in Uganda to promote U4U events and news. The role is awesome because I get to see first-hand the amazing things such young people are doing to create connections across the world.

Why does U4U host a concert every year?

U4U’s Concert for a Cause is such a great event we can’t help but want to have it every year! It brings together a ton of people. We have different performers, representatives from all the clubs who help sponsor our students, and lots of students attend! It really brings together Xavier and provides a lot of food, prizes and fun!

What can new students expect while attending?

New students can expect great music, tons of food for a cheap prize and AMAZING prizes!

What are you looking forward to most at the event?

The music! We have so many talented performers and I can’t wait to hear them.

Fun fact about yourself!

Last summer I touched the clock at the top of the Gallagher Clock Tower; come to the concert and look again at how high it is!
