If you need a little study break or you’re taking a night off from going out on the weekend, instead of popping in the same old movie try something different! Start a new TV series on Netflix.

Here’s some of my favorite hidden gems…

1. If you need a laugh and a cry at any given moment… How I Met Your Mother is for you.

Hands down the best show I’ve ever watched. This is my epitome of binge-watching. Nine seasons, 208 episodes, 6240 minutes of HIMYM–but well worth the time. Dive in to the journey with Ted Mosby as he tells his two kids the story (and oh what a story it is) of how he met his wife.

2. If you have always wanted to live Carrie Bradshaw’s life from Sex and the City… The Carrie Diaries is for you.

Sadly, this show only aired through two seasons, but it’s still worth the watch!  Get the inside scoop on Ms. Bradshaw’s teenage life chasing her fashion dreams (before she settled into NYC as a sex columnist).

3. If number 2 wasn’t appealing to you at all… The League is for you.

Five guys. Fantasy Football. One girl to show the boys how it’s done. Vulgar jokes. What more could you ask for in a Netflix series? The quest for the Shiva is a tough one, let me tell you, and these guys are willing to do some crazy things to win their league.

4. If Twilight wasn’t your thing but you are still up for trying a show with good (better than Edward Cullen) looking vampires… The Vampire Diaries is for you.

In my opinion, this is the go-to vampire watch. I was never one for the Twilight saga, but Vampire Diaries stole my heart (but luckily not my blood) from the very start. Join the town of Mystic Falls as they gain two new supernatural residents, the Salvatore bothers. Something tells me this isn’t their first visit and probably won’t be their last.

5. If you like to get emotionally attached to your shows (but don’t we all)… One Tree Hill is for you.

I’m not sure I want to admit this to the world, but I’ve watched this series fully, four times (not counting the random times I’ve binge-watched with my roommates). All I’m saying is, I’ve never heard someone say they don’t like this show. Brothers. Drama. Sports. Cheerleaders. Love. Loss. But only one Tree Hill.

Trust me collegietes, you’ll love it.
