With summer right around the corner, we are all looking for ways to erase the winter damage to our skin and hair.  We have found some fabulous DIY beauty products that won’t break the bank and can be made from items you already have in your dorm room or apartment!

Coconut Oil Hair Mask

Coconut oil has so many benefits for hair and skin.  This mask restores your hair without much effort on your part (which we love because, really, who has the time?). When your hair is dry pull it into a ponytail. Generously apply coconut oil to the length of your hair, paying attention to your roots, and wrap your hair into a bun. Wash it out after a few hours, or let it sit over night and wash it out in the morning.

Coconut Coffee Body Scrub

This body scrub will not only exfoliate but also will stimulate blood flow and rehydrate your skin! Before you throw away the grinds from your morning coffee, combine them with coconut oil and sugar to make your shower smell like a coffee shop.

Honey Lemon Face Mask

This is the wonder woman of face masks.  Its magical results include: clearing acne, brightening skin, drying out pimples, minimizing pores, reliving dryness, and reducing redness. If that isn’t enough to convince you, then we don’t know what is. Find the recipe here.

Edible Mud Mask

If you’re looking for a snack and a mud mask in one – then this is for you!  With honey, coco, banana and more, this sounds more like a smoothie, but it works just as well as store bought masks. Don’t believe us? Click here and try it for yourself and let us know what you think!

Homemade Lip Balm

Made with just Vaseline and Crystal Light, you have total control over this lip balm.  Fill a small container with the Vaseline and stir in your favorite crystal light packet until you’ve reached your desired shade.  Get ready for the day while the mixture sets, and when you’re ready to head out the door, your lip balm will be waiting for you to pucker up!

So skip the beauty aisle and save your money for a cute new swimsuit using these homemade beauty care products. Enjoy these DIYs, and let us know which ones you try on our Facebook page!
