31 Things You Can do in 40 Minutes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

This past week, my friends and I participated in the Husman Hall Glohunt. The idea was to go around campus to find and take pictures with 31 things that were on the list. It was a crazy experience! Here is how it all went down:

Preparation:

So our team “uniform” idea was to do a blackout. We went with this idea because we wanted to blend in with the night and have our glow necklaces stand out. Also, just like any rational team would, we decided to cover our faces in war paint. We also thought that red lipstick would make us more intimidating.

Pre-Hunt:

The pre-hunt was basically us just running around and stretching before the hunt started (if you hadn’t noticed, we took this a little too seriously). We were actually the only team who dressed up or even had any passion about this hunt. We also got our glow stuff at this point so we became team blue.

The Hunt:

The hunt consisted of 31 items that we had to run and find first. Every photo had to be tweeted to count, and have at least 5 of the 6 team members in it. The locations were everywhere on campus with the furthest being from U-Station to O’Connor. We decided to start at U-Station.

Felicia was in charge of taking and posting all the photos you’ll see, so this is the only one with her in it.

Next was the basketball courts:

Then we ran to the scales:

Followed by the lovely Bellarmine Chapel:

We then went on an adventure to Brockman:

(Shout out to the interesting two guys who joined our picture!)

Then we had to make the worst run of all, to the one and only O’Connor:

We took a stroll through Gallagher:

Did you know Xavier has a Mother Teresa statue?

After all of this, we finally made it to our last location, Husman Hall.

Our last stop:

All we needed to do was get a picture with an RA and we would be done! We sprinted away from Mother Teresa with enough time to cut through Fenwick and make it into Husman. Thus, the last photo that was needed.

We sprinted out to Husman stage where the judges were and found out we were the first team to arrive. We were stoked to hear this but we had to have our photos checked off by a judge. We sat there on edge, waiting to see if another team would run up or if we may have forgotten a place. Thankfully, we did not! We were absolutely elated; we had just won the Glohunt and a $50 gift card. Here is the photo of us after we found out we won!

After the glow hunt:

After we finished the hunt, we walked over to Gallagher to get some water and relax (well actually, we thought that late-night Xavier was happening but it got canceled, so since we were already there, we stayed). We got water and sat down in Ignition Station, going through all the photos for the first time. We were dying of laughter and sharing quotes of all the stupid things that had just happened. We were quite proud of ourselves for running around the school in 40 minutes and winning as a team. Plus, we can now tell people about 31 things to do in 40 minutes around Xavier’s campus. Even though the Glohunt was just created to get the residents of Husman Hall out of their rooms for a night, it has become a lot more for us. After that night, the 6 of us became really great friends. We now spend every moment with each other and that would have never happened without this event. So yes, we won and got a sweet $50 gift card, but we also got something much greater, our friendship.
