You are studying abroad in Africa, how did you choose that?
Well I’m a political science major with an emphasis in comparative politics and international relations. I’ve been working on an independent study researching community development in South Africa and I just think it’s a really interesting and compelling case study.
What do you think you will be doing there?
We’re going to be studying the role of NGO’s in ongoing development. There are tons of different NGO’s in the host community and I’m hoping to be able to volunteer for one of the organizations that work with children.
What is your favorite restaurant in Bellingham?
Probably Palameni’s! They’re always there when I’m out on the prowl! They never fail, but they should deliver.
What is your dream job?
That’s a good question. Probably a foreign policy advisor in the White House.
If you could be any kind of animal what would you be?
A deer, because it’s my spirit animal.
What is your opinion on man-buns?
What is my opinion? I mean I like them, but it has to be right. Just like any bun! haha
Who is or are your favorite musical artist(s)?
Arctic Monkeys is first, and Hozier for sure number two. Oh and always Ri-Ri and Beyonce!
Who is your role model and why?
My parents! Is that cliche? They are my twin pillars of support and they have politicized me in a way that emphasizes the importance of values. I feel grateful for the political perspective that I have because of them.
What is your idea of the absolute perfect date?
A goat petting zoo! That would be really fun! I love goats.
What is your favorite spot on Western’s campus?
The Miller Market or anywhere I can get a lunchable.
What flavor schmear do you like the most on your Zoe’s bagel?
I usually get plain but when I’m feeling risky I get garlic.
What is your favorite Western fashion trend?
I think I’ve really embraced Birks and flannels the most.
Who are you most excited to see at Sassy, i.e. Sasquatch Festival?
Everyone! Modest Mouse, Lana, Flume, Odesza to name a few, but I always end up finding new artists who I really like so I’m excited for that too.
What are you most excited for in the future?
I’m excited for South Arica!! It’s all I can think about. I can’t wait.
